hi this is yolanda vanveen and in this segment we're to talk about how to grow mullion or ver bascomb from seed now mullion is a beautiful small biennial or sometimes a perennial and it started by seed and it'll grow in warmer climates outside it'll make it over the winter in colder climates they have to be started every year now they make a nice small ground cover a little bit larger plant with little white and purple flowers and they're really pretty and they're so easy to start from seed now you can start them right into the ground or into little trays or containers it really doesn't matter and an easy rule of thumb is just fill it about 2/3 full of soil and good potting soil is the best with lots of organic material and then just sprinkle some seeds into the soil now you just want to cover that up just maybe one or two inches and then you want to mist it real well so that it's not going to have a lot of pressure and the seeds will just come out you want to mist it till it's nice and thick and the best time to start your seeds is at when it's warmed up a bit when it's at least 60 degrees outside because you've started them too early they'll try to grow and it'll be cold at night they won't do much so even if you start them through the summer especially if you start them into July or even later they'll come right up and you'll have a beautiful mullion plant before you know it
