hi I'm here on some 81 vintage today I'm going to show you how I created this fantastic lamp from a cast iron wheel we bought a job lot of fire cast iron wheels and we use the other four to create this amazing coffee table we had one last over which we didn't know what to do with so we decided to create a lamp to start with we took one piece of scrap wood and we caused a 15 degree angle on each end we then set up the table saw and we sawed the top of the water and turned it so that it was face down so that we could cook directly into the top of the wood to create the groove of the wheel we then use the height adjuster on a table saw to cook for grooves in the wood so that we can then channel out the answer with a hammer chisel to start removing all of the excess material and didn't need so we could create a groove that we of the sitting comfortably once we removed all the excess material we started drilling through the wheel we cast away or into a fight and then we use a sharp metal drill bit that is importantly Weiser get a new drill bit or make sure that you have sharp drill bit or the way you'll never get through the mouth the matter on our wheels the power centimeter thick so it took about two to three minutes to drill through it's important that used oil with your drill bits stop it from your lawn and it's important that you regularly top it off throughout the drilling process once the wheel has been drilled and then has to clean the wood and given it a standard some 120 grit sandpaper unless the wood to dry and then I start to clean our wheel we gave it a good going-over with some soapy water and a wire to remove all the loose rust and then we brought the inside start to clean off the excess oil residue and to really try and focus on cleaning up and we also could be using door I like to use open cleaner again some astonished it has a caustic solution in it so it helps to break down low once I clean the wheels the wood was then ready to be what I like to use three waxes in the dark oak color because it stains and it works of the wood I find it's best when working with this wax - neither overnight and then come back and polish it the next day for the left free rack once the wheel was dry I use the Lord Sheraton one o'clock I get this from seen freeze it does change the color of your mouth and examines it or was that it was wax that any secured the wood and the metal wheels together I started to use two part epoxy resin I got this from town man and eggs about four to six minutes left I use the whole tube and some mixer I use an old takeaway tablet and i mix both part equally and then place all of the resin into the groove of support that we previously cook and then held the wheel in place until it back I let the wheel set for about ten minutes and then I start look at how to join the laptop lamp bulb holder behind a patent and run finish to it to join the wheel and the lamp together I use the threaded tube and for not I didn't have these on hand so I raided an old lamp fitting that I have some combat once the nut two trains or that was enough to secure the two pieces together I use the three core brown fabric covered wire which means it has an earthen it faces and now about halfway down I added two switch and then I added this project took about two three hours and creates a new truly fantastic we had a lot of interest on social media and our customers very happy if you want to Celia the project that we do head over to our Facebook page an 81 vintage and give us a like don't forget to subscribe as well and to see our new videos and all our projects that we do
