okay I'm going to demonstrate my number-one solution my number-one gadget for putting on compression stockings and it's as simple as a glob with good grip on it for many of my patients this is all that they actually need and they can save their money and not have to buy any of these other gadgets or solutions that we show on this site you can find gloves like this at a hardware store on this site we do have one available that's made by jokes it's specifically made for this purpose so the rubber on the inside of the glove is specifically designed to grip good on compression stocking so it does work well you go in a hardware store you may or may not find a rubber surface that is good but you can save the time and money by trying that first third that you usually do not cost very much you might can even find something at a dollar store does the simple idea with using a glove is that it gives you friction if you have tried to put on compression stockings I'm going to put this one on my hand all the way to the sock you may have found that part of the problem is when you're trying to put them on your hand slides you're tempted them to begin to use your fingernails and start digging in and pulling and tugging like this and you may have experience for a lot of our patients experience that when you start using fingernails you will get runs it will start tearing little holes maybe not the first time but eventually you probably will so you do not want to use fingernails the glove will keep you from being tempted to use your fingernails also if you're putting the stocking on your foot you put both blobs on pull it up until you can't pull any more when it's taut when it doesn't come you stop pulling you're just wasting energy then you start rubbing and you the grip of the glove you may not see that it's moving much at first but the fabric is moving although it's very tight over my hand I'm able to rub this on as you know to that you often get wrinkles on these stockings like you can see here lots of wrinkles a quick way to work these out it's with these collapse it works the wrinkles right out some of my patients will actually carry gloves in their pocket because throughout the day they get wrinkles and like you might know wrinkles are not good you want to keep wrinkles out especially like at the ankle this is a foot and often you get a wrinkle at the ankle those wrinkles can cause sores in the skin so you want to keep those wrinkles out anywhere where the fabric is doubled it will double the pressure in that area and can also if the wrinkle goes all the way around it causes a tourniquet and may result in more swelling you're wetting the stocking to prevent swelling so that's the last thing you want the blocks can behave helpful for taking them off but usually when I take a stocking off I just fold it inside out and pull it off that way
