hi everybody this is Lauda with crazy cool cakes this is the fifth episode on how to create our beautiful mermaid themed cake if you'd like to learn how to make this adorable little mermaid cake topper please check out the links underneath this video and that'll take you to my online shops and there you'll find a wonderful PDF tutorial I've created on how to make her today we'll be showing you how to make this beautiful seaweed it's very fun and easy to do and I hope you enjoy hi everybody this is Arne and out with crazy cool cakes and these are the things you're going to need to make your seaweed we're going to start with some gum paste make as much as you like this is a blade that you can use to go and cut your seaweed and this is a rolling pin and this is not absolutely necessary but this is a drying foam that we use to dry our seaweed and other items such as leaves and flowers and like I said it's not absolutely necessary if you are interested in getting yourself some of this phone you can readily find it in craft stores and places where they sell mattress material but believe it or not we actually found this at Hobby Lobby and it's much bigger than this we cut it into the sizes that we need and they sell these as little kids to make dolly beds so it's kind of like egg crate so these are really very inexpensive and a good investment I think they work wonders yeah it doesn't come in very very handy so this one get started so I'm just needing my gum paste that's where I need it to be and we're just going to roll it up into a little ball don't have to worry about again the wrinkles because we're going to roll it out it doesn't take any shape or form we're going to make some cuts and that's going to help you make your seaweed and you'll see it all come together right now very simple very fun to do and once again about 1/8 of an inch thickness did I teach you how to do is turn did you learn on your own I kind of made it up on my own and you loved it I should get right there this is probably less than six inches long and it's going to even be shorter because we're going to make some cuts here make one cut at the bottom and flat bottom then we're going to make some wavy cuts that's just the end of it now we start with our CV and here wavy cut and once week one so we just place them on here on the phone make sure you make some dips the bottom is going to have a dip in it and then you make sure that these are placed in your holes of the phone because this is what's going to be touching the cake right here these three items right here and very important guys when you're placing this seaweed in your egg crepe foam hair that you do press the seaweed all the way down to the bottom because like he just said those are the only spots where you're going to be adding royal icing to the ceiling I don't think there's any danger and cut in the ceiling as you place your finger in there I'm being pretty rough with it and it's not doing anything to so that's pretty safe if you don't have the phone we don't find it don't have any luck and finding it just kind of bend these where you think you want to bend and once again these are the places where it's going to be touching the cake this flat bottom and then just place this on some parchment paper on top of a foam core board whatever you want to dry it on whatever usually dry it on and just have it give it that bend now I'm gonna put this in my hand so you can see it and but I'm telling you the foam is just going to work wonders for you this is a little bit harder but the foam is going to work wonders for you but there you have it that's our seaweed for our undersea themed cake we hope you enjoyed this tutorial guys and we will be of course showing you how to place these pieces of seaweed on our cake once we get ready to decorate it generally for a two-tiered cake we like to do about 12 to 15 of these so go ahead and create your seaweed and we'll see you next week when we have our next episode on our under the sea themed cake thank you guys take care bye bye god bless y'all bye bye
