today we're going to use stone poultice as a stain remover as you can see here on this piece of travertine someone drop some ketchup the ketchup has been sitting there for quite some time before anyone noticed once you remove the actual stain itself from the tile we're going to notice a stain that went into the actual tile we need to get that off and working with stone poultice you can use it on travertine granite marble and slate now that the travertine has absorbed that stain we're going to have to mix up some stone poultice into a paste apply it over the stain remembering overlap to stain at least an inch all around it we're going to cover with plastic we're going to poke some holes in it wait a day and see what happens when using poultice for a stain remover we want to mix it to a thicker paste how do we do that go ahead and pour some into a cup poultice has a consistency of like a flower we're going to add water go ahead and take a spoon and just mix it up you add a little bit more of the poultice to get a thicker paste now that I have it go ahead and ply it right to the stain make sure to spread it out won't hurt your skin over that stand once we have it over the stain we're going to cover this with plastic and tape poke some holes in the plastic and let it sit for 24 hours we're giving the poultice time to absorb and suck out the stain out for the natural stone after applying the poultice in the paste form over the stain we want to make sure to cover it in plastic poking holes in the plastic lung air to penetrate allowing it to dry now that it's been 24 hours we're going to remove the plastic and the poultice over the affected area now it's harder should just slide right off you get a towel the poultice is going to leave a small residue and that's just moisture that was absorbed from the poultice this should be gone in a few hours the stain was removed looks great remember depending on the size and type of stain two applications of poultice may be necessary so don't worry if you spill anything on your countertops go ahead and grab some stone poultice they'll help you out this application we're going to use poultice to take off sealer that is dried on the surface of a mosaic the customer went ahead and sealed their grout and they sponge it all over the tile they didn't get it off the tile in time so now it's dried what we want to do is remove the sealer off the tile without using an acidic product remember acid will strip the sealer on your grout so we want to keep the sealer embedded in the grout but remove it from the tile we can take poultice you can sprinkle it on the affected area go ahead and spray it with water what we're looking for is to turn this into a slurry mix we'll take our scrub pad and gently agitate the area you can see how it's wet not too pasty easy to move around and we're not taking the sealer off the grout joints we're just taking it off the tile I think that should be good now we take a towel now you might have to rinse it off a few times before you get all the poultice off now the sealer has been removed the towel looks great and your grout is still sealed
