hi I'm Gary boiler and I own the water filter East door and the water storm Midland Ontario today we're talking about how to clean the injector in a clock ws1 water softener valve why would you need to clean the injector well the problem is if it gets dirty and it gets clogged it's a very small orifice in it within it and if it gets clogged it definitely affects the performance so you would notice poor performance if it was dirty you would also notice that the the water level in the brine tank would rise and and that's again another sign that the injector needs to be cleaned now one of the great things about the clock ws1 valve super easy to service and again the servicing the injector is definitely super easy to do now how often would you need to do this well it depends if you're on a municipal water system where there's no iron in the water you may not have to clean the injector for ten years if you're on well water that has iron in the water and a high mineral content etc you may need to clean it every couple years so it really depends I might also add at this point it's not just water softeners that need to have the injector clean iron filters like the fo b or the FOC series or tannin filters they all need to have the injector cleaned similarly but the good thing about clock is the valves are all exactly the same the injectors are the same so the procedure is identical so to start to clean it the first thing you need to do is you need to bypass the unit so just flip the bypass button to bypass mode the second stage is you press the regen button you hold it down for five seconds and once you hear the motor start then it it releases all the pressure inside you need to do that before you start so once the motor stops like now okay then the next stage is the the drain line now if your drain line goes down you don't have to worry about it but if your drain line goes up then what I suggest you do is get a bucket or something like that nearby and then pull out this clip that holds in the drain line lift it up and then drain it into the bucket because the water that's up above will drain back down if you don't do that it will drain out where the injector is housed so anyway once that strained out you can put this back together and and then we need to get inside to the injector the injector is inside this housing here and so all you need is a pair of pliers or a wrench to loosen that up and then you can unscrew it now the color of your injector may be different than what's inside here this one's red and you just use the edge of the cap can pry that out if you have difficulty with that just use a pair of needle nose pliers again depending on the diameter of the tank what it's used for the media the number of other things would determine what color injector and different colors have different size orifices inside so you need to if you're going to replace it make sure you replace it with the same color injector as what was originally in here so there's a hole in the middle you can hold it up to the light and see if you can see through it or not but that hole needs to be cleaned now you can clean it with a piece of wire anything like that because you might make the hole slightly bigger and then that would compromise the performance or it might not even work at all so what's best to use is a wooden toothpick a pointing one like this one here and you just push that inside to to open up that hole you can push it in from both sides and again that removes the debris from inside there once you've done that then I use a toothpick soaked in CLR or a similar type of descaler and and and use that on both ends and then what I do is I soak the whole injector in CLR or whatever kind of cleaner you're using ideally if you can soak it for several hours that would be great and then use the toothpick again to clean it in from both sides and also the q-tip end and the the toothpick to clean it once again once you've got it all cleaned up then you can put it back inside now if you can't get it all cleaned up if you can't get the holes clean then you have to replace the injector so once once you're ready to replace it you just push it down make sure it's seated all the way in there and then you put the cap back on it and again you can tighten that down now normally hand tight is enough but it is difficult to kind of get a grip on it so if you need to use the pliers you can tighten it up a wee bit more once you've tightened it on there then you need to put the unit back into service so if you go back to the front of the valve here we can press the regen button and that will take it to the next the next cycle once it starts counting down we can push it again that takes it to the next cycle again so now it's on its heading for the fill cycle so we'll just wait till it starts cutting counting down press it again and this will take it back to back to its home position you'll notice it will display the current time once it's at its home position like now okay so then we can put it back into service by opening up the bypass and and then what I always do is press the regen button and that will initiate regeneration at whatever time is programmed for usually two o'clock in the morning if you liked what you saw today please click the subscribe button that way we notify about all the new videos as they become available on my channel over the next few weeks also if you need more info go to mark go to my website at the water store Midland comm or the water filter East or comm and again I'm Gary the
