hey guys welcome back to my channel and today I'm gonna show you how to cut the butternut squash there are two ways you can do this and the first thing I'm gonna show you this in the microwave it's really fast and easy and you just put some holes in the skin of the squash put it in a microwave safe dish as always and put it in on high for about five minutes to start and after that five minutes is up you're just gonna pull it out cut it open you're gonna see it's really easy to cut open at this point and you'll see if the cooking process has started there's gonna be steam coming out of your squash however it's not fully cooked yet so to cut down on your cook time it helps to cut it in half take those seeds out you can use them and roast them if you are whatever you want to do I actually did not have time to use my seats unfortunately this particular day so as you can see the very center of this squash is not fully cooked yet it's a little bit lighter it's not tender yet whereas the outside is darker and definitely tender so it needs a few more minutes anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes for the rest of the squash tries on the size of your squash if it's a really small squash maybe 5 an extra-large squash would be 10 extra minutes mine happened have been about seven minutes so place it the flesh side down on your plate and put it back in the microwave on HIGH for about five to 10 extra minutes and when it's all done you will see that this is your finished product it should be really tender and soft you should be able to scoop down easily with a spoon and I use this for baby food and it worked out great it was a perfect solution for baby food it was fast as easy and healthy so there you go step number two or method number two is to roast it in the oven hole or you can do it I'm doing where you have a really large squash you can cut it in half to cut down on your cook time scoop out the seeds you can put it on your pan flesh side down also when you're using the oven you also want to put the holes in the skin and set your oven to 400 degrees to put it in for about one hour mine was a really large squash even cut in half and give it a little bit more than an hour but you can see if the juices are coming out it's starting to caramelize this is what the finished product should look like nice crispy skin carmelization all over the bottom of your squash and it should be so soft and tender you should be able to scoop it with a spoon as you can see mine broke in half and guys this this way of cooking it gives you the best flavor ever so I highly recommend in the oven if you have the time to do it I hope that this video was helpful for some of you and if you are new thank you for watching please subscribe and share and if you are the a returning subscriber thank you so much for subscribing and watching these videos and please leave some comments for me let me know how you like to cook your butternut squash and I will see you guys in the next video bye
