Please explain how to replace grip shift shifter grips and covers

this is a mountain bike I bought at a thrift store and it has a grip shift shifters on it and it looks like the previous owner replaced the grips and the covers on there I don't know about these covers the grip the whole stationary grip on here looks like they just took like some cheap grips of some sort maybe from like a kid's bike or something I don't know our BMX bike and just cut it off so they fit it on here and then these grips I just don't like them because they're they're thicker than the regular grips and so they just end up with this lip so I'm gonna go ahead and replace these so what I have here is I have some covers that I pulled off of another bike that I use for parts and then I have a brand new stationary grip there's a Bontrager but these these you can buy pretty readily you can buy these as well there I don't haven't seen those quite as available on the internet but you can find them if you look for them so the first thing I want to do is remove this stationary grip and I'm going to use an allen wrench just kind of wedge it under here and you want be careful there's a plastic washer that goes in between the stationary grip and the shifter so you want to make sure that you go on this side of the plastic washer so I'm gonna go ahead and wedge this underneath the stationary grip just going to try get pushed in there and then I'm going to use some rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol you can get this at your local drugstore or the pharmacy section of your grocery store and it's pretty cheap and so I'm just going to ahead and squirt a little bit in there and try to get under the grip then go ahead and work this around and pull this off there now we go ahead and pull this plastic washer off don't lose that now I need to pull this grip shift cover off and so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go ahead and insert the LM inch from this side try to get a little bit of the alcohol out of there and then I'm gonna go ahead maybe shift it up a little bit get it in there again get a little bit of alcohol in there and even try to get it up in another little spot here okay then pull this wrench out now what I'm going to do is unlike the other grip shift or the grip here is I can't just rotate back here because ribbed in there so I'd need to do is kind of walk it back and forth here so I'm going to pull on the top pulling the bottom pull on top hole in the bottom and see it's ribbed in here and inside the little grip here it's ribbed inside there as well let's take a rag to wipe it off here a little bit now I'm going to take the the new a little cover here and it's smooth on this one side and ribbed on this side and the same thing inside this little cover it's smooth on one side and ripped on the other so that's the directions go on so to go ahead put a little bit of alcohol inside the the new cover slide this on and then try to get those little ribs all lined up and then just push it on and I can kind of walk it into place and so make sure that it's all the way on there they got remember to put the washer back put the washer back on there so there's the washer right there and then I have the the new grip here so I'm gonna go ahead square it a little bit alcohol it inside there shake up a little bit slide this on and they're all done that's how you do it
