this past week I have been figuring out new ways to minimize my deep freezes home stay tuned to see how hello friends I'm misty Nicole welcome back to the channel today I am minimizing my deep freezes actually combining things into one deep freeze and I'm starting with dehydrating a lot of my frozen vegetables that are near expiration date because when you dehydrate them you are able to take them up to having a 10 year shelf-life which is pretty awesome and it takes a lot less room - today I am using my new Excalibur that I received as an anniversary gift and so I'm gonna start by just taking all of the produce and putting them on trays but my husband and I did this there's no rot to it just making sure that there are pieces that are small enough that will fit within your trays and here I'm just doing that to the broccoli cauliflower loading up the excalibur and since I really didn't want to ruin a half-open machine I went ahead and added blueberries and spinach and citrus and a few other things to it just to have a full load and then once that was done I popped them into the dehydrator and one of the really nice things about this unit is there is a guide on top that will show you exactly what temperature you need and since I'm doing with fruit and vegetables I put mine right between 125 and 130 and that made sure that everything was dry from the edamame to the spinach to the corn to the blueberries you name it it was going to get done within this one session I went ahead and dehydrated everything for 10 hours to make sure that it was completely food safe and then we were good to go and once they're dried they resemble little bitty pieces and are absolutely adorable so I am now going to preserve them and how I like to do it is by using half-gallon mason jars and I am able to put in about 20 pounds of dried produce per jar so that is an incredible amount of space and savings to people especially considering you can put so much of it up and in July and December the prices of frozen goods are going to go down nearly in half so there's a good tip for you what I'm going to do to further preserve this is to use my food saver and this is kind of a makeshift dry canning technique so what I do of course after I've added it to the jar is I'm going to go ahead and use the system for this machine for it the mason jars I'm also going to use a dry erase marker to write the date that I put these up on the lid itself and then over top of the whole thing I'm gonna put a plastic jar lid just for some some ones in the cabinet and for the aesthetic you of course don't and I just burn my rice cooker and we are good to go and here you can see I'm just going to mark the date and have that ready to go and friends if you de hydrate your items instead of having the freezer you can save a ton of space and money in the process and be a little more minimal too and so that's just one of the ways that I like to put up food especially in July when the parties prices are dropping in half it saves me a ton of money and here you can see I put up a lot of dry goods but here on this shelf I have Kiwis squash and zucchini mix I have mixed vegetables and again when you're in the freezer section consider minimizing and picking up some this week and thanks so much for watching I'd loved if you hit that little red subscribe button turn on notifications leave me a comment and let me know what you've declared over minimize this week and as always please be kind to yourself and to others and have a wonderful rest you
