hi i'm debrah garden scene with quirky gourmet today i'm going to show you how to remove cabbage leaves from we're making cabbage rolls now cabbage rolls are a dish that you find in many different cuisines from Eastern Europe the Middle East many different variations what they have in common is that they're all some yummy stuff wrapped up in a cabbage leaf the best leaves to use for stuffed cabbage or cabbage rolls are the outer leaves on the cabbage which are a little more flexible and just easy to peel off the cabbage now the very first thing you want to think about is buying your cabbage cuz a very fresh cabbage is going to have a lot of the outer leaves on them what happens in the store as the cabbage gets older is the outer leaves will they peel them off and you still have the green cabbage underneath so anyhow this is a nice fresh cabbage check out at the farmers market and the key to doing this is just to be careful be patient it's okay if it rips a little there's one taken off you know it just kind of it's like peeling the the foil off of a gum wrapper you want to work at it from a number of different angles there's another one see I just want to look at it and figure out where it is attached to the cabbage you see it's kind of ripping a little here doesn't really matter you can roll it all up together so there you go that is how you remove cabbage leaves for making cabbage rolls you
