hi I'm Patrick the laundry evangelist welcome to my laundry room I love cashmere I love cashmere sweaters a lot I tend to wear them all year because even in the summer sometimes the air-conditioning is so cold I just want a sweater in the evening this is my very favorite black cashmere sweater and I'm going to show you how to wash it we're gonna take the sweater we're gonna fold it and the reason we're gonna fold it is because we're gonna put it in a very small laundry bag this mesh bag isn't really all that large but when I put the sweater in and I fold it up you can see the sweater really doesn't have a lot of room that's what I want I'm gonna wash it with a little bit of soap I prefer soap for cashmere rather than detergent so I'm gonna use a tablespoon of laundry flakes from the laundry Vangelis and that is going to allow the water to move back and forth through all those layers you don't want the sweater to move through while it's in the washing machine you want it to go in like this and you want it to come out like this if it can move like this you're allowing it to rub against itself and it may cause felting when you think of felting that's what you think when wolves shrinks it doesn't really shrink it felts when you don't allow it to abrade against itself in the washing machine it's gonna stay perfectly intact and good for another wear so I'm gonna put this sweater in the wash then when it comes out I'm gonna hang it up let it dry and it'll be ready to wear again you know a few hours later thanks so much for watching I am Patrick the laundry evangelist and have a great day
