today we're going to show you how to make a cushion cover like this one with a doily on the front what you need for this project is a sewing machine you'll need a doily a fairly small doily some pins fabric scissors thread tape measure some fabric to make the cushion cover and a cushion insert the fabric we're going to use to make this cushion cover is a really nice medium weight cotton you will need one point three meters by sixty centimeters okay so lay your cushion down in the middle of the fabric and for this cushion we're actually going to pop one of the sides over pop the other side there so it's just going to be a cushion cover that you can insert and it's got a nice flap at the back almost like a pillow case when we're going to stitch down those side so we're going to do first is actually put the doily on the front so once you've got that flip your cushion over and in the middle of this section put your doily on the top like this and if you're happy with how that sits grab your pins and just pin the doily to the fabric all the way around the doily like that the next step is to sew the doily onto the front of the cushion cover we've already got the doily pinned on there and we're just going to zigzag around the doily to attach it to the cushion cover so come over to your sewing machine put it on as the eggs AG a nice wide zigzag and a nice long zigzag too and pop your cushion cover in and just zigzag around the very outside of the doily okay lay your fabric down on the table with the doily side up grab your cushion insert pop that down on top of the doily right in the middle there there's going to be a shorter end of the cushion and a longer end to the cushion and that's going to be the flap at the back so bring your shorter end over the cushion like that bring your longer end over the cushion like that make sure it's sitting all nice and snug and then we're just going to pin down the sides of the cushion so that we can make it into a cushion so grab your pins and have the two side seams here and just start pinning it down along the side seams now that you've pinned down the sides of the cushion we're going to take the cushion cover off the cushion like so and now we're gonna sew down the sides of the cushion and along the back seams and then we're going to be done we're going to sew the two back seams here so take a few of your pins out on either side pull these down sew a straight stitch along both of the back seams here and then we're going to join it back together so just a straight stitch along both of those vaccines now we're going to trim the side seams both sides of those just along a cushion there we finish the cushion cover we're going to turn the cushion cover inside out and we're going to put the cushion inside so you can see what it looks like so just turn inside out pop all your corners out like this grab your Christian insert slide it in and there we go there's the cushion cover at the front and the back thanks for watching and we'll see you next time
