how to build a glass break partition difficulty level one hammer let the light in by building a glass brick partition it is quick and easy using interlocking blocks on a PVC frame you will need glass bricks of your choice an assembly kit using the PVC mounting strips and special glue the expanding wall plugs finishing strips glass brick sealant and cleaning products you will need a pencil a tape measure a spirit level a Mason set square a hammer drill a cordless drill an extrusion gun a trowel a plasterers trowel and a finishing float a bucket and some cloths check the ground it's level where your partition is to go and that the wall is true vertical and finally square mark the extent of the partition and position a PPC strip in place on the ground drill holds every 30 centimeters in the PVC strip and mark the supporting strip on the surface drill holes in the floor for the expanding wall plugs and insert them spread a thin layer of special glue in the middle of the mounting strip then turn the glued strip over and screw it into the ground repeat this technique with the wall supporting strip if you have a tiled floor start drilling slowly without using the hammer option then once the drill bit has passed through the tile select hammer mode and increase the speed spread a line of special glue along the middle of the horizontal mounting strip as well as the vertical strip to a height of 2 glass bricks place the first glass brick in the corner spread the glue on a short 18 centimeter strip and immediately place against the side of the first brick spread glue on the other side of this vertical strip and put the second brick into place finish off the first row in this way spread glue along the middle of the horizontal strip and place it on top of the first row press along the top to make it stick spread glue along the middle of the strip and lay the second row in place in the same way as the previous one repeat this process row by row until you have completed the fifth row allow 12 hours for the glue to set to ensure the structure is solid after this continue laying the partition bricks in place in the same way for another five rows finishing strips on the edge of the partition provide a neat finish these strips are available in PVC and brushed aluminium you could also use a thicker finishing strip designed to support a shower door place the finishing strip in a meter block and use a hacksaw if you need to cut it once you have installed all the bricks and the finishing strips onto the edges wait another 12 hours before applying the finishing grouting prepare the grout using a plasterers trowel spread the ground over the partition and into the joints allow it to set slightly then rub over with a finishing float to dry then polish the surface with a cloth and special glass brick cleaner this is a very simple technique for beginners to build a glass partition in record time without the need for cement or a steel frame
