Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert
Village I'm going to show you how to make these beautiful snowflake cookies. Now that
we have some of our snowflake cookies cut out and on the cookie sheet we are about ready
to put them in the oven. But first, there is something you can do before you put them
into the oven that will save time later and that is decorating. Now obviously you can't
ice the cookies before you bake them but you can use colored sugar. You can see I've got
some blue sugar, white probably wouldn't show up that well but you can use different colors
as well depending on the effect that you want. And sugars work best before you have baked
them. This way they are really going to stick into the cookie dough and they will melt a
little bit but they will still keep their shape. You can either use your finger to place
them on here or you can use a teaspoon if you want to scatter it around a lot of cookies.
Or if you have a cookie such as this one where it's more solid. I'm just using my finger
to sprinkle things because they are so many open spots where we've got to use cut outs
for these snowflake cookies that it is just a little bit easier to do it this way. If
you want to completely cover the cookies you can do that as well. I prefer just a little
sprinkling and of course you can also wait until after you've baked before using colored
sugars. But then you need to ice the cookies first. So this is just something that will
save time later if you want to decorate them first and it's just a different way to go
if you are in a hurry and you are doing tons of cookies then certainly using colored sugar
before you bake is an easy way to save time.
