hello my name is betty walker from walker farms and today i'm going to demonstrate on how you freeze butternut squash i start out with four butternut squash this size i wrapped them individually in heavy duty foils i put four squash on a cookie sheet this size now they're ready for the oven put them in the oven at 350 for an hour and a half you don't have to touch them you don't have to look at them you don't have to do anything in an hour and a half bring them out of the oven and they're ready to cut in half then you put take the seed out of the end of the little pocket on the squash and then you take the pulp out and put it in your bowl and then you add a half a cup of sugar and a half a stick of butter and then you mash it like you do mashed potatoes and after you get those mashed you put them in a container this size a 24 ounce container and out of those four squash you will get four 24 ounce containers you can also use this for soup all you do is add your milk and your spices and in 20 minutes you will have hot soup and the squash the same way you will have it ready for the table in 20 minutes and you can also do sweet potatoes you wrap the sweet potatoes in your fall and make them for an hour and a half at 350 and peel them and put them in your container and you add butter and then you add your michigan pure michigan maple syrup to the container and those are ready for the table in 20 minutes also and that's how we freeze butternut squash
