hey welcome back everyone I'm Joe and today we're making a window cat perch my wife is asked me to do this because we have a huge Great Dane and her head is about 38 inches off the ground and our cat no longer has nowhere to hang out so we're going to make a cat perch so she can get away from Lady our huge Great Dane it's not a very difficult plan shouldn't really take you very long at all to complete but I think your cat will really like it especially if you have a big dog like us so let's get started after you determine how big you want your cat first we cut that out of a piece of plywood you can see this piece was roughly 12 inches by right over 15 inches they're going to need either 1 by 2 or 1 by 4 pieces for your age put those on there and Mark them so you know where to cut them off strike the edges cut those off then after you cut them up it should look like this short pieces on the sides or shorter and the longer one covers of short pieces then put some wood glue on those short pieces and use either a brad nailer or hammer nails I just like to use my brad nailer is made excuse to use it do the same thing with along side throws wood glue on there use your brad nailer or hammer nails and at this point we used an old piece of carpet because we had it available you're just going to cut out the same exact size as the plywood platform nice and square size you can see I'm using a sawing motion makes it a lot easier let's stick it into your cat first just make sure it fits nice and well and remove that and sand everything down so your cat or anyone else want no splinters then you're ready to go ahead and paint then determine where you want it on your windowsill this is a wooden windowsill and after its Center go ahead and screw this into the windowsill use two inch wood screws for this and don't worry about the holes that's putting on your windowsill you can fill it with Sanibel wood putty and just sand it off you're good to go then put your carpet back in there make sure it fits nice and snug looks good and here's the reason we're building it so our cat beam can get away from our huge Great Dane lady and as you can see being seems to like her cat perches you can sit look out the window hang out nice comfortable on a carpet let me know if you have any questions hope you liked the video remember you can always subscribe hit the like button if you like the video so until next time good luck take care
