hi I'm Linda Hutchinson of L Hutchinson designs today I'm going to show you how you can attach a shank button to an earring here I have a lucite hoop that I've already attached a jump ring - I have a shank button a hook and an eye pin I also have flat nose pliers needle nose pliers and wire cutters so first I'm going to take the eye pin I'm going to open up this end just a little bit to attach it to the jump ring I have over here once I have that on there I'm just going to use those same flat nose pliers to close it up you want to make sure that you get it closed securely so that doesn't fall apart when you're wearing it now I'm simply going to slide the shank of the button down on the I pin like that to give that kind of look I am going to trim off the excess wire here I want it to come just above the height of the button so I'm going to trim off just a little bit of excess wire here holding my hand over the wire as I snap it so it doesn't shoot up into my eye I don't want to hurt yourself I'm going to take the needle nose pliers and I'm going to bend a little loop in the end of this to attach the ear hook once you have the earhook on just go ahead and use your flat nose pliers to close the hoop again you want to take your time and make sure that it is closed securely so you don't lose any components as you're wearing them and there you have a pair of earrings using a shank button my name is linda hutchinson and thank you so much for joining me bye-bye you
