hello everyone it's Heather from Heather's knits I'm just uploading a new video today another tutorial for you I know a lot of you already may know how to bind off your stitches by knitting every stitch and passing the slip stitch over but I'm going to show you today how to bind off in the pattern that you're doing so if if you've got ribbing that you need to bind off for example at the edge of a hat or at the edge of a sleeve or something like that like a top down sleeve you may need to bind off in the ribbing pattern and that's what your pattern will tell you bind off in ribbing so this is a knit two purl two ribbing and it's just the neck band of a sweater that I've been working on and I'm going to show you now how to do that so I've already started I'm going to continue here and show you so basically whatever stitch comes next on your left needle is what you're going to do so I've got two knit stitches coming up here so I'm going to knit them so I'm going to start by knitting the first stitch and then I'm going to pass the one behind it over top like normal then I've got another knit stitch here on my left so I'm going to knit it and then pass the first stitch over but now you see I have some purl stitches on my left needle so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to switch to purling I bring my yarn to the front I Pro this stitch I go back slip that first stitch over once again I pull the next one and I go back to the first stitch and slip it over and then you can see now that I'm back to my two knit stitches so that's what I'm going to go back to I'm going to knit here so knit pass the stitch over knit pass a stitch over and you can see when you're done it's still a nice clean edge um in fact it's a bit of a cleaner edge because you are continuing with the pattern that you had done throughout so you're not pearl pearl pearl pearl and then all of a sudden unknit stitch here when you're binding off so it keeps continuity with your pattern and also it looks nice and neat when you're all done hope that helped and remember to check out my website it is Heather's knits webs com lots of other video tutorials links to projects and things like that links to my Ravelry page as well so thanks for watching and happy knitting
