as it going everyone it's ray from primal performance fishing and today we're going to show you how to make your own assist hooks for jigs first step is to take your assist cord here and just double it over just put it up against the jig to get an idea how long you want to make that assist hook it should be just a little bit more than halfway down the jig right at that point where you have it pinched we're just going to tie a simple overhand knot just like that next step I like to hold the loop at the top like this and take our hook and you're going to go right in between the little gap you made in the overhand knot and just got that hook through once it gets to the top of the eye here just cinch it down tight next step you're going to take your loop pinch it together to make it one I'm going to come through the eye of the hook from the back side and pull it nice and tight then you could take your solid ring here and you're going to attach the other end of the cord to the solid ring just by going through opening your loop and just pulling the ring back through so should look just like that then if you have some heavy-duty shrink wrapping you can slide the shrink wrap over and with a heat gun you could create what we have here on this hook just prevent it from slipping makes it a little bit stronger tag these trim these tags down which would also get tucked in and the shrimp wrapped shrimp wrapping and then you would just attach it to your split ring here and you would have your own assistant that you made
