welcome to the health hub network quick tip brought to you by health hub network calm its Melanie with mealy girl wellness and today I wanted to talk to you guys about white powdery mildew which I spotted are I noticed on my squash plants this morning I know if you can see on a camera here but you'll see some white spots on here white powdery mildew I see them on these broad Leafs as well and these this is going to spread really fast through the vines so I want to address this quickly you might start seeing white powdery mildew show up when there's a high humidity and hot days hot night and so when the weather changes and after the treatment hopefully you'll see things improve so simple treatment or just is to mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a gallon of water and sprayed on to saturate the leaf both front and the top and bottom I guess is and do this for about three days in a row simple treatment and then you need to do it more go to every other day or a couple days a week that you'll want to treat this right away because you don't want this to spread because it does spread quickly through the whole vine so the faster you can take care of it the better because what will happen is the leaves will start turning yellow and and the leaves will start dying so you don't want to do that you don't want to wait too long you want to treat it right away week since I started using this baking soda and water solution on my plants my broadleaf plants and it seems to have stopped the proliferation of the powdery mildew which is great so the reason why this works is because it changes the pH balance on the surface of the plant which makes it an unsuitable place for the powdery mildew to just keep poll if rating some people will use a milk solution where they put one part milk and nine parts water and use that or they can use the solution the type of solution that I'm using with the baking soda the baking soda will change the pH balance to a more alkaline surface and the milk solution will change it to a more acidic surface so it's really your choice of what you want to use but it's definitely working for for my plants and I've been applying it every day it you know I noticed it on several other plants in the garden too and also was able to get that under control so it plants looking good and healthy I hope you found this tip helpful if so please leave a comment and let me know how you feel about it let me know what you use if you have a different solution to deal with powdery mildew and you just leave a comment in the comment box below until next time happy gardening bye be sure to sign up for the monthly newsletter at health hub network comm and get more health and wellness tips delivered right to your email inbox
