we've been asked on many occasions what fabrics you need to use for this bonding it doesn't matter you can use anything you can use cotton any woven material will be suitable you can even use plastics this for instance is plastic back fabric this is silk this is cotton what we'd recommend against using is anything which is a knitted fabric because when you use a knitted fabric it can stretch when you sawing it onto the tape which can make the measurement greater than 19 centimeters at the top of the flag having said that well you can even use old clothes what we don't want you to use is paper because this bunting is going to be hung outside so it's got to be a weather proof and waterproof I'm going to show you how to cut your flags to make the best use of fabric first thing you do is line up with the edges of your fabric so that the size of the two flagship no cuts at once is the same put the edge of your template to the edge of the fabric and draw a line round it when you've drawn the first flag out turn the template over and draw the second one using the edge of the previous flag as the side of the second flag that's good and continue in this way right along a fabric until your renounce if you use this method you're going to have very very little wastage of material so I've got the Flex drawn out you can now put along right along the the line which is the base of these flags that's brilliant when you're actually cutting the flag so you'll see we've actually cut them out so that they're running with the grain of the fabric if you cut across the grain for instance in this direction you'll find that when you're sewing them this stretch so try and keep with the weave of the fabric when you're cutting we have also been asked whether you can use pinking shears to cut the fabric oh you can its little less accurate and we find it doesn't work so well on thin fabrics but if that's what you'd prefer to use that's fine really flags don't have to be hand so from that one quite a small piece of fabric I managed to get 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 21 flags I can't do the maths but I guess that's probably about seven or eight meters of bunting that we can make with this okay thank you you
