and today I am going to show you how to save zinnia seeds so if you're like me probably water overhead on your flowers sometimes and like yesterday when I was really lazy so what you want to do is you're going to look for your spent blooms and that are completely dried out like this and you can see that the stem is even dried out and and those are the ones that you're going to collect for seed saving so what I'm going to do is I'm going to take this bloom I'm going to cut it all the way down to the bottom here so you should have something like that and I don't need this big of a stem dye I'm going to keep a little bit of a stem now again this is why I mentioned watery overhead if you water it overhead recently you're going to let this hang paint and dry for a while just to make sure you're getting all the moisture out because if there's any moisture in there you're going to get mold and it's going to ruin your sieve so the ones that you don't want to pick just yet or cut just yet are the ones that still have pliable flowers and also is there still some green in this area here and go ahead and let those dry the rest of the way so that those seeds can slowly mature if you pick those too thin you won't have viable seeds so I'm going to wait until this whole thing is dead and dry and there's no green left in that head now once these are completely dry all I do is I cut off the heads and I stick the whole head into a doobie pouch like this and I store it for one of our I'm going to plant it next you can plant them right away and they'll it'll grow and that I'm going to store mine for later in the fall when it folds down a little bit and so and then when you go to plant them all you do is you can have a scrap ahead and crumble it in your hands and the seeds come out and I'm going to show you what the seeds look like and I'll show you why I put the petals in there and everything and so sometimes the seeds will still be stuck to a petal but just a little slice down here at the end is a seed and usually the set the petal will sort of crumble and fall off and then you'll just have the seeds but if they get stuck on and I just leave them on make it stick enlightened touch you can see you can see them move in here so that's how I seize baby
