The Seleucid Empire was a Greek state in Western Asia, during the Hellenistic Period. It was founded by Seleucus I Nicator, following the division of the Macedonian Empire. At its height, it had covered Anatolia, Persia, the Levant, Mesopotamia, and what are now Kuwait, Afghanistan, and parts of Turkmenistan.
