hi my name is Kelsey and I'm with Great River craning today I'm gonna talk to you about our milkweed million challenge and that's why we're trying to collect 1 million seeds of milkweed in order to restore and bring back this pollinator attractive to the Twin Cities and milkweed looks like this that's all around me it comes in many different forms this is a seating one this is also a seating one and these are the pods that we really want you to collect how do you know when it's ready to be picked so first you want to find pods right and like you can see around here I have pods but you like to have pods that are starting to burst open and these seeds want them to be dark brown and a little bulging with this white fluffy stuff you rubberband them right around the center and this just keeps the pod more intact so that we can clean the seeds later on and we don't have Fluffy's everywhere in the office put it in a paper bag not plastic because the plastic will not give it enough oxygen and the seeds will actually mold so we ask that you put it in a paper bag and note the location and the date in which you took it so this is so that we can spread it back in close to the original area and we don't want you to mix locations we really prefer if you have a different bag for each location so thank you so much and we really want you to help us get to a million
