hi guys welcome to day four of the halloween countdown today i'm going to show you how to make these really awesome wicked witch cupcakes um i found the recipe for this on a website called www.darcyscupcakes.co.uk and it's a really awesome website so i'm going to put the link in the description below and you should go check it out okay so the things you're going to need are a cupcake covered in a thin layer of buttercream icing some black and some pale green sugar paste or fondant icing and some black food coloring and a paintbrush okay so step one dust your surface and your rolling pin with some icing sugar and roll out your pale green sugar paste until it's about a quarter of a centimeter thick okay so now it's time to cut out the circle that's going to make up the witch's face now i find the easiest way to do this is to place the cupcake on top of the sugar paste and sort of trace round making a slight indent in the icing with your knife in an upright position this way you get a circle that matches the size of the top of the cake ish when you have your circular piece ready place it on top of the cupcake like that and i think should be pliable enough so that you can mold it and stretch it so that it smushes exactly in sort of inside the cupcake case nope like that okay so now to make the witch's hat re-dust your surface and you're rolling with some icing sugar and now it's time to roll out the black sugar paste okay so you're going to want the black sugar paste to be slightly thicker than the green so once you've got it to about half a centimeter thick you can stop rolling okay so for the witch's hat cut out a triangle shape you can do it freehand it doesn't have to be exact okay to stick your witch's hat onto the face just dip your fingers into a little bit of water and gently make one little side of the green sugar paste wet then pop on the witch's hat just a little bit of an angle there and in order to keep the hat upright you need to place something like the rolling pin you are using underneath to keep it up so it doesn't sag and this will dry as time goes on and then you'll be able to take away the rolling pin and it will stand up on its own okay to so to make some of the finishing touches get your black fondant again and start rolling little tiny pieces of it into long thin strands and this is going to be the witch's hair okay and start positioning the hair just coming out of the hat like that okay i'm also going to add a thin strip of black icing at the bottom of the hat to act as the rim of the hat just to finish it off a bit right so the final step is to paint on the eyes the nose and the mouth of the witch using black food coloring now if like me you're not quite sure how you're going to do this just take a knife and make a gentle indentation about what of where you think you're going to do it just to make sure you don't go straight in there with the black and get it wrong okay so that is the finish witch's face now all we have to do is wait for the paint and the fondant to dry
