hi i'm chris meach i'm out here today in cache creek colorado because i wanted to show you my sluice setter digital pitch i used to scratch my head and wonder what was the right angle for my sluice box that's why i came up with the sluice setter so that once we figure out what angle is working we can consistently recreate that angle every time i recommend starting somewhere around five degrees on your sluice box this one's a little steeper than that but i'll tell you how you can really tell if that's working for you or not what you would do is take some of your tailings from below the box and get some of them in there now i've been purposely running this box a little steep 6.97 degrees something like that and so let's take some of our material and pan it out and see if we're losing any gold because this is where it would end up so i've got this stuff panned down that i took from below the sluice box and we'll see what we got here see all that gold we were wasting just because it wasn't set right since we were losing gold before i flattened out the angle on the box which is now closer to four and a half for five degrees and we'll take some of the tailings here again and we'll see if there's gold this time while i'm panning this out i wanted to remind you that there's a lot of different theories on what setting is best for this loose box my suggestion of about five degrees as the starting point is just that and you should take your own experience and figure out what's working because if you check from the bottom as i suggested and see if you're getting any gold in your tailings then you'll know whether or not this is working for you now i should be about ready to have a look here to see if we were losing anything now that i made the angle a little smaller let me pull this back looks like we lost about one piece i don't know if you can see it it's pretty tiny so certainly a lot less gold being wasted at a smaller angle so get yourself a sluice center and set it to get it go to sluicesetter.com
