Please explain how to install window regulator & motor 2002 mitsubishi lancer oz rally

today we're going to be replacing the window regulator because the cables broke on it them so well need to remove this screw right here this cover just got pops right off there there's another one up here in the other corner about in here you can use a knife or a screwdriver to pop the covers open on them there's a screw right here underneath this panel just a little difficult to get open but just pry it up and there with a knot knot sometime there's one down here yeah caddy hole cover kind of goes flying yeah we'll get those on get diesel taken out and then see where we're at then so we've got the four screws taken out there's no other screws in it but we also want to remove this side cover here easier said than done there we go with that side cover and it'll just kind of make it easier to go ahead and take that screw out of there and make it easier in the long run to get this panel off this door pickle okay so now that we have that screw out we'll just pull that up we'll get it out of the way I want to use a flat screwdriver to kind of pry around the edges get start popping lips go this off of a can do I said go so just kind of slides in it's got that tongue donut right there just kind of slides down snaps back now the panel should come off you can see how that's holding it now it's just that a one wiring harness so we'll just push the tab in on that kind of wiggle it a little bit and boom it's out panels off I'll set the panel off to the side somewhere and we'll start getting this water barrier off of here a real gentle you don't want to stretch it when you're pulling and you don't want to tear anything because this is water barrier to protect your window and electronics sometimes you can use a putty knife to kind of scrape around where it's stuck with this goop we'll just try to keep it in as good shape as you can when we move it we also want to remove this metal bracket here it's just kind of a place filler but we will put it back later but for right now it's kind of in the way for getting this water barrier out okay so now that you've got your water vapor barrier out of the way you're going to need to access this clip right here which is in the middle of the door that's your motor power clip and just kind of to push that prong in see if I can do this here push that prong in just lift it out get it out of the way and kind of push it back over in the hole there because if I have to come out get your window down to where you can access the two mounting holes there's one through that hole right there and there's one right there you'll need to take those off to actually pull your window back up and tape it or secure it somehow to where it'll stay up while you can actually remove this regulator and motor out from these holes so that's what we're going to do now I believe that's a ten millimeter socket on there where you can use a Phillips head screwdriver unless these bolts have two washers on a malach washer in regular washer just be sure not to lose those watch your hand underneath it wouldn't be taking down the door so it doesn't fall down and you just kind of unscrew both of them and the window should be free so now will window back independence you see it came loosely so the window is just going to come back up now we'll tape it up in place with some real secure tape and then we'll get to working on taking out that regulator and motor okay I've got it taped up with gaffers tape and a couple of spots so now we're going to get to taking out these screws for the regulator there's four of them I believe that hold it in and then the motor has these three screws to hold it in and so we'll get pulling those out and start working this regulator out take out this final screw here regulator is loose you're gonna have to fill this one out but there is on the backside of this right here there's a bracket that holds the the cable and you just have to fill up there and kind of slide it up and over it like that on the bottom no that should be the only one that one bracket and you'll want to remember to put that back with a new regulator in cable this is the motor right here and I'm going ahead and replacing my motor because it was only like $30 more to get a new motor for it with the regulator so I'm just gonna hang on to this old one because I know it works and I'll hang on to it I see a new one turns out to be a dud or something and I don't feel like go through the warranty process or something or whatever those three right there the motors free now and since the regulator there you go there it is and there's the problem with mine is that this cable right here broke loose right here and so we're just jammed in there and causing problems but to remove this motor you just remove these three three Phillips screws right here and then you can just hang on to that old motor if you want or you can you know put this motor on to the new regulator if you didn't get motor with your regulator let's open up this new regulator and as you can maybe see it's got a little bit of lubricant on the rail in there and the cables so you know just be careful not to get that dirty or wipe it off or anything okay so that goes in first work that wiring harness under ready to start putting some screws in there loose to hold in place we begin from maneuver everything around where it goes so I appear with the top - so you'll kind of hold everything from the top here that was the wrong screw don't do what I did I just put ahead one of the window mount screws in it to map this that goes through the actual window itself you can remember because it has those two washers on it you should have two of those and a bunch of these little guys with just the one big washer on you just want to get these finger tight because you want to be able to move it around still and all the holes will line up properly for you and get these bottom two and and get the the motor assembly in they're gonna have to reach up behind it and work it in there it just doesn't sound right you don't want to do this job in the grass if you may drop screws like I just did it would be hard to find if I was in the grass there's three of them I go in there if you remember correctly screwdriver to get this one started because this harness being in the way it's kind of difficult to work my fingers we obviously don't want to cross thread any anything ever but you don't across thread D so be careful how it goes in okay now if you remember correctly we have that a cable at top cable with this regulator that needs to slide up and over that bracket and into it it's very tight and it's so tight that I'm now realizing that I should have slid it over it before I tightened everything down but since Mari tightened down I'm going to remove that bracket put it in place and then pop it back in so I'm sliding it over the cable now and now I'm popping back in the door and that's just tabs on the bottom there that remove it reach up in here and find your wiring harness that goes your motor new motor boat motor kind of work it around so that it goes through where it's supposed to slide through this hole here and go up and plug up into the other the harness that it goes into you know I this one's a little tighter factory one was guess it has to go through there we go loosen it up okay that's it we'll bring the window down hook it back up or if you want to if you're real particular and you want to make 110 percent sure you could now with the door panel off and everything plug up the switch back in the wiring harness for the window switches and turn the power on make sure that the regulator works before you actually put the window on it and all that but I know it's going to work I'm not worried about that so I'm going to go ahead and reassemble everything personally but you can do either way get a good handle this window when you release it with the tape because it will fall down and bust something if you don't slide it back down make sure that it stays in its trunk make sure that it stays good and even what should go down may have to help it over the regulator just a hair and there that's put these screws back in cut the screws back in the pilots there in the actual window itself you remember correctly there's one through that hole as well and tighten those down good and snug don't break anything obviously but good and snug and tighten all these screws down and everything and then we'll get the test night button back together and well getting all get all these seven of them just kind of go over your checklist make sure everything's put back the way you took it out and I'm already already tightened these down so they're good and snug and now I'm going to start getting the water vapor stuck back on there a little trick for that to kind of get it in the right places look for a reference point um what's your sorry hard to do with one hand but basically as you can see here in the middle there's two holes they line up with the two holes in the door for that metal bracket we took off and if you can kind of just get those plates back in the right position and then just work it out from there all right so now that I've got the metal piece back in place and the weather seals back pretty much the way it was plug this harness back in and then we'll get to work in this tin the the door panel back on it'll slide it down from the top and then once it's in place let's slide down will actually snap in the plastic pieces right there into all these holes going around it so I'll show you if I show you that there plug in the wiring harness back into the door switches make sure it's perhaps in place and then slide it down from the top which can be a little difficult to get it in place we're sliding it down the way that you know it's in place is the screw holes where the screws go through the panel will line up with the holes and the basil's for them and that's getting tight in there so we'll get to puting the screws back in get this piece back in and go ahead and test it out see if I can show you putting this back in like I said as that mine's broken on the kins here but it's got a clip that clips in the back but that hole right there that journal this front section actually slides into it so we'll need to loop it back and work the front section out first so that this tab goes in that journal just like that just like that and we'll get those screws put in there and get everything buttoned up okay so we got this parsley back in we're going to get that screw tightened down we've got all the rest of these screws in and those covers just snap back over them and and we'll just snap on the rest of the covers and cover on this little bad boy right here once we get them tightened down it doesn't have to be super tight obviously the whole night in place really it's just kind of there same deal with these covers they just have to be snugged up cover snapped on snapped on the will fire this window up and show it working and if you're like me and you've got tape residue on it then it may make some funny noise that's whatever but um get all that cleaned up all that tape residue and you should be good to go all right thanks guys
