today we're gonna show you how to make a traditional English autumn game called conquers and basically you need chestnuts or conquers in the UK with a bit of string through them and then we'll show you how the how you play with it but the tricky bit is actually being the string in so what we use is a skewer which is sharp so clearly parents should do this and help your kids if you heat a skewer this is the trick it actually goes through the conker a lot easier so I'm gonna heat it up a bit the concur that I have in front of me I've really prepared I've really started making a small hole in it so it can go in a bit to quicker I would say take care when here we go let's come through ready take care when you do it I pull it through just to tidy it I push the skewer in again like that and then the really tricky bit one of the boys asked me but how do you get the string in it's so tricky so the best of it you can do is you get some normal rope and then you wrap some sellotape around it like you would on a shoot but basically creating a shoelace effect and by doing that I did two layers of Cilla tape so you've got that the whole width of the concur and then you can just push it through how'd you make so many cool how'd you make so will you have to find them in the park and then you tie a little bit at the end and we're gonna show you in a minute how you play the conquers game okay to play conquers one person holds it out the other one wraps the conker around his finger and try or the string around his finger and tries to hit the conquer with there's the aim is to hit them as often as possible and then to aim - to actually break the other conker and as our oh here we go shows it's a little bit tricky but that's good you don't obviously want to break your conker straight away you want it to take a little while and you oh good good shot and you take turn so you basically have five guys each and then you swap round and the other person holds their conquer yeah you like to have extra codes because we're videoing this lovely thank you for the demonstration
