anyway what i want to talk to you about is this bulb layer pad kit that we're selling it arrives to you in a box just like this open the box immediately upon receipt because remember there are live plants in here and inside you've got a set of six layer pads they're all numbered so this one's number three and you have two packs of each one number three one number two and number two so there's my six layer pads now these will do two containers i'm gonna show you how to plant one container up so i'll just pop half of those aside for now okay what we have to do is choose a container so it could be any container but make sure eight has holes in the bottom for drainage and b is at least 25 centimeters deep because that's that's what we need for this project so in the box we have your tray of pansy plants and now there are 24 pansy plants in there and that's to be shared between the two containers so 12 plants in each let's put that on the floor for a second make sure you choose a good quality compost feed containers there's no point using anything that hasn't got feed already built into it because otherwise your plants aren't going to grow as good as they could and what you do break up the compost that's nice and loose and in the bottom you put around five centimeters of compost in before you put the first layer pad in it's very quick to do this process and just give it a shake that levels it off so then you put layer pad number one in and it says this side down so the smooth side goes down put that in the center of the pot just like that add another little layer of compost but layer pad number two face down as the instructions say just break up the compost a bit more and then just pop a bit more in and all the time just give it a gentle shake and then flat pen number three in simple as that it's the way of creating your bulb planting and the bulbs erupt at different times and give you different flowers and give you a longer flower period and then fill the container to the top and just lightly firm down every now and again it'll shake okay so that will probably do then we grab your pansy plants well these are actually viola swell from the from the micro propagator this is how they arrive to you so they've got a tray in the bottom that soaks up excess moisture too you can see the 24 large plug cells here and squeeze the bottom of the plug look at the roots on that there are fantastic rooms perfect for planting now i reckon to put nine in here so just imagine a dice my dice doesn't have that many just break it up three one way make it a hole that's with your finger wiggle it around so it's the right size for the plant three that way and three long ways you could use less if you wish i'm doing this because it'll give a quicker cover and the quicker they start getting rooting through and making a cover the quicker the quicker they'll throw themselves into flour so this particular viola will be in flower by december so straight away you've got um green leaf cover on the top of the container giving you some interest and then very quickly you'll have the flowers of the viola popping through look at that how easy was that all you've got to do now is give it a water with a watering can and done the flowers will pop through of the viola if there needs any dead heading just pinch them back to the stem then as the month of the spring months progress into march it should be a right of color on the top as the spring months progress through the first layer of balls that come through which is crocus in this particular case the next layer of iris and the next layer of daffodils and so on so and then this will be in color until mid-may at least so that's how to part your layer pad
