g'day i'm al mcglashan and this fishing tip is brought to you by shimano now trolling for tuna it's one of my favorites in fact it is my favorite thing to do there's a couple of tricks with setting up your spread to make sure you get on the fish first and foremost as soon as you get to the grounds you want the gear ready to go so as we're slowing down starting to pull up we already have the lures ready to go on put them straight out the second thing you do is you always start at the back of your spread and then work your way in don't put your short lures in first start at the back that way you'll minimize tangles when it comes to your actual spread what i like to do is run a bib lure in the shotgun and what i'm talking about is right out the back there 100 meters out doesn't have to be a deep dive but just a shallow runner sitting there 100 meters out that is gold for bluefin in fact all my big bluefin over the years including my 150 have been caught on it so then a couple of skirts and then of course the old squidgy run that up in the close as well now the other side of it is when you're retrieving the gear don't wind the gear at the back end first start the opposite way get your gear that's in short start with that and then work your way out to long gear that'll minimize minimize tangles now one final tip i could offer especially when you're running five lures and it's a bit rough like this is to pull down your deep divers and your diving lures so grab your line like that pull it up you don't have to twist it up or any special just simply put the rubber band over it like that and pin it down there that way it's going to keep that lure deeper in the water keep your skirts out on your ears and you'll catch tuna
