hey everyone today I'm going to give you a quick tutorial on how to make a wet pitfall trap these traps are a nice cheap way of one and ground-dwelling invertebrates the world carriers and the cats though so that's a problem then you have to find another method of trapping maybe a dry pitfall trap so what do you need you need a pet so I've got plastic cups but any container will do really you need something to dig the hole work really gonna run to that too much detail and then you need some sort of preservative that people normally use deicer and have the ice unfortunate so I'm gonna have to use alcohol captain morgans through specific okay so the next bits totally optional but if you're going to be dead repeat surveys in the same site i'd recommend making a removable back to go inside your trap that way when you come around survey you can just take this away go and study it and put a fresh one in without having to readjust your trap every time so what I've done is just chop the top off of one of my plastic cups or if its own that nicely stem so close it up okay so once you dug your hole and then you know that it's about level with the ground just pour a little bit any wax n so once you got your cup in the ground you want to make sure any of these gaps fill up with soil so that any insects that come along they don't fold on these gaps instead of go into your trap and just do this carefully try and make sure you don't get too much earth in your trap as well so I'd say that looks pretty good and then the last thing that you want to do is just get a few sticks put them over your trap and then some leaves cover the trap up with some leaves now just stop the stopper from fern up so much we rained and then you're set thanks em some Sun market nearby this is why I looks like after a few days see we've lost the leaves it's pretty windy but whatever it is you've got straight away you can see is a big ground yeah if you want to have a properly watch the next video well ID and set keys that's it for this video thanks for watching
