oh look there's F in the back see hi he says he's not camera-ready alright this is gonna be a real loose blog style video because we have a lot going on and we're hoping to do some tutorials later this week we're gonna do flower arranging I've got pinners conference going on look that's what's up had for breakfast you want C subs breakfast Lucky Charms alright so let me show you what I'm working on so this is what I started this morning I should have probably videotaped it but I really didn't know what I was doing this is a much like the technique I did the other day but I'm using DIY paint I've got letter first I painted it in white swan' the whole thing I sprayed it I've got two colors pathi Carrie and this is letterpress great the top I painted wood letterpress great and then I went around all the edges and then the middles I filled in with apothecary and then I just took my script bottle and I just squirted it and blended all the paints this is a French Provincial desk let me back up a little bit it's cool because it's solid wood but didn't have a ton of detail so we added appliques these are new they will be on our website this is a keyhole applique so it kind of makes it look antique and then I also added that okay oh that's close I thought that it kind of mimicked the lines of the dresser I just wanted to add a little bit of detail to give me something fun to glaze let me show you the side here so it's letterpress gray with a pocket carry in the middle and then squirted with the with the squirt bottle I'm gonna layer some more paint on here in a little bit and once that's dry and I'll either add another color or add some please today we're making candlesticks for the finished conference down in Arizona it's gonna be awesome [Applause] if you watched our live video the other day and you saw that navy blue piece this is the finished product I wet distressed and sanded it back so this is the color that originally was and then this is the DIY farm fresh and then this is the navy blue sweet chicken and I I went distressed it and then I went over with an orbital sander and there's no paint chipped off look how easy this and then I filled the whole thing with poly acrylic the inside is just white I wanted to keep it kind of fresh it's got a little bit of distress event but not much it's hard to explain what I'm doing mostly because I don't really know exactly what I'm doing I'm just layering in stuff the way that I want to Nikita this is a squirt bottle so it feathers out the edges and then I just add colors where I want them and I did get a new brush it's a Java ga ba see this powder right here this is what happens when you just stress di white clay paint it powders up and then it becomes really smooth and I love the way when you distress you get these really organic looking distress marks and that's not like oh I just dressed that it looks like it's worn with time if you want to buy this paint go to Jamie Rae vintage dot this is letterpress and I'm using apothecary and I think I'm gonna add something else in but we'll see so you might think I'm crazy but in this squirt bottle I have cowboy coral very very watered down and I saw my friend of turquoise I already do this I thought what the hey so I'm just taking it and I don't think that's how she did it all but this is how I'm gonna add the coral to this alright don't be scared don't be scared alright next I'm gonna just take my regular water just clear water and just water it down a little bit to blend it in yeah alright I'm gonna do that to the rest of piece and I'll show you what it looks like when it's dry this Cup it looks like cement what it is is it's um fairy chalk mother's marry wax and I've mixed in a few drops well maybe more than a few drops of old-school bye DIY paint which is like this dark grey color and I'm just using it for shading can you see here where I've come in I want it to look like old plaster type and they've added these appliqués that I showed you earlier do you see how they just really come to life with the colors and the waxing and then I've waxed along the edges and then just smeared it with my fingers and the sandpaper so I'm gonna kind of show you here I've got my brush and I'm just kind of putting on here I'm just adding a little bit of texture you can see down there and then I'm coming back through here so that way it's not like obvious where it stops in this earth and you can even take like a damp rag and smear it in somewhere and that's how I'm doing this whole piece I'm just going to going around the edges and keeping it lighter in the middle and dark around the edge and I'm just adding some depth so that's what I'm doing I'm liking how this is turning out and you can end the coral can you see it when I sprayed that coral I mean it just barely a hint of coral on there it's not like BAM in your face coral but it adds some depth he shares a creaky I gotta fix something in you got a fixable Jamie makes me wear a hat when we do the sign offs because she says that my bald head overpowers anything she's got going on I can't compete with that well it's nice when it's forward cuz what is let's just completely shades those face oh no cuz this is how you used to wear hair when we were dating yeah like that you are your hat and then you not like your big fat sunglasses yeah now look how cute you know it's like I'm seventeen again I can't raise you again anyway so we we I turned a ton a ton of candlesticks today of all day I got myself inaudible book and I've been listening to it I'm like eight hours in with my ear buds they're gonna get old after that black scene you got stayin over here probably got stained old and I've been handling everything else feeding the kids taking red rag to give this crown fix painting that desk right there that one you see it I don't know I think yeah I think they can't see it we're gonna put pictures in the end but anyways yeah so I didn't even see that you did the squirt bottle with the coral color that was I was editing like oh that's gonna look so bad okay right it turned out good it's just like I would I kept on watching as I was editing I was like oh I did not see that oh I may have stuff this piece was already sealed because I was squirting with a squirt bottle and it was kind of rogue get all over the place and there may have been some on the rag anomaly but it's it's really washable so it's a good thing yeah just so you know if you get a little DIY paint where you don't want you to wash it right off so this week it's kind of gonna be it's kind of be more of this all over the place vlog style because we are crazy busy we got time for organized videos yeah we got to leave Wednesday morning to drive all the way at the 10 hours the Scottsdale video is just gonna be like me we're know you're gonna be I'm driving right I'll probably be passed out leaving cuz I still have more candlesticks to turn like I got 30 hours of an audible book to listen to and I'm only eight hours in yeah a lot of hours he doesn't like the way I Drive does that make him nauseous so we'll do happen oh good we're gonna be headed down to attend a conference in Arizona and we'll do some live while we're there we're also gonna have a video wait for it we're gonna be doing flower arranging wedding my nephew's getting married and my sister Lama Raya who's on my chalk art video it's also a very talented floral designer she actually like does crazy weddings all the time like so that's coming up this week we're gonna be talking floral design I may not interest you but that's all we got so whatever we do this week that's a work for you we'll show you a pinners conference and have some tidbits of our class in there too so yeah stay tuned
