hello welcome to the untidy artist today we'll be making a sunflower bohemian headband let's grab our supplies you'll need some small silk sunflowers these are about 2 inches in diameter and some twine this is a natural jute some lace trim and some felt scotch tape scissors and a ruler modge podge glue and some glitter and for this I'm using iridescent glitter and then orange and gold glitter a little cup and a toothpick to stir and some dental floss and of course my glue gun the first step is to measure our twine you'll need six pieces of twine measured at 24 inches each now grab your dental floss and secure one end of your twine together tying it off in a knot take a piece of the tape and secure the twine to a solid surface I'm using my table and now you're going to braid so take the twine into three separate sections so each section will have two pieces of twine and braid it and you need 18 inches of braided twine so braid until you get to 18 inches and then secure the end with your dental floss and tie it off in a knot trim off the excess dental floss and then trim each end of your braid leaving about a half an inch and now we're going to get our flowers ready so pull off three of the sunflowers now flip your flowers upside down and we're going to trim just a little bit of the back so cut down about leaving an eighth of an inch on the back of each flower we don't want to cut too much off because we want the flower to stay intact now grab your glue and put just a little dab in the bottom of your cup and take your glitter it's best to use ultrafine glitter I liked the orange in the gold together I thought it looked really pretty in the center of the sunflower so take a little bit of glitter and mix it together with your glue you want half glue and half glitter grab your toothpick and start to apply it to the center of your flower I applied it starting from the center I'm working out using the toothpick and then I also decided to use my fingers to kind of spread it around a little bit more and it also made a really big mess once you have the gold and the orange glitter applied to the center take the iridescent and just kind of tap it onto the glue while the glue is still wet the iridescent glitter will add more depth and sparkle to your flowers now grab your graded twine measure at four inches and put a big dab of glue and then from the front take your flower and push it through the braid over the glue securing it into place figure out where you want to your next flower and I overlap them just a little bit put a dab of glue and once again from the front push the flower through securing it on to your braided twine now grab your felts and cut a strip of felt that's about a quarter inch wide and then you'll want to cut three pieces of felt that are each about an inch long line each piece of felt with some glue and place it on the back of each flower securing it into place now grab your lace trim and cut two pieces of trim 15 inches each and then cut two more pieces of trim each about two inches long take some glue line from the dental-floss down and place your lace trim right on top of the glue and then take your extra piece the one that was about two inches long and wrap it around where the braid and the trim meet covering up the dental floss and the end of your braid attach your lace trim to the other side and you have a beautiful bohemian sunflower headband that you can tie around your head thank you for watching be sure to give this video a thumbs up if you found it helpful and show your support to the untidy artists by subscribing have a great day
