[Applause] [Applause] hey youtube it's Jackie and today I'm going to be doing a tutorial on how to tame your dwarf hamster the first thing that I would recommend doing is to put your hamster in the ball for a little bit so that way when you tame them they will be less like crazy and more calm I'm going to be taming Jerry today so first thing you need to do is to put them in the ball so while your hamster is inside of the ball you need to set up the taming area you will need just a regular clear plastic small Bend just like this make sure that it's high enough so that way the hamster can't get out the things that you need to put inside of it are wheel so if they're stressed it can run a log or something that they can chew on or just hide or play in I always put a sand bath so that way they could also enjoy the taming session and just a regular toilet paper tube that they can crawl in or nibble on now you need something to give them when they do something right rewards instead of treats I just use my hamsters food because he loves these just like treats and they're healthy for him they're not fattening like certain treats are now let's go grab them do you got your hamster out of the ball you need to just let him roam around and get used to the area once you do that you start with the first taming the thing that you want to do in your treats you want to get one of your hamsters favorite foods my hamster Jerry loves sunflower seeds so all you're going to do for the first step just offered him one like that and he doesn't want to take it it might take a while for him to grab the treat because he's scared of you but as you can see time pays off I keep repeating this step until you and your hamster feel comfortable then as he's eating it you want to just gently stroke his back if your hamster lets you stroke his back that means he's ready to move on to the next section so now what you want to do is take more than one of your of his favorite treat so I'm going to take two sunflower seeds and one pumpkin seed so you want to just take them in your hand and cut them like this then you want to set your hand down tilting it towards your hamster and wait for him to come the goal is from the crab climb onto your hand and take off the treat as you can see Jerry has done this so he's used to it also take a handful of his favorite foods and hold your hand higher and higher it higher up so that way he has to climb in order to get the treats my Amstrad to go pretty long way order to grab them so you just keep repeating the process until your hamster gets comfortable with climbing all the way up onto your hand so don't forget to always just rub your hand across your hamster's back now the next step is trying to pick up your hamster what I like to do with this is also to take a variety of your hamsters favorite treats and place them in the dead center of your palm then you're going to lay your hand down until ice to climb on your palm you're letting it you want to try to make it to that way you have to literally go all the way onto your hand and hopefully he'll stay there soon your hands you'll have to climb completely onto your hand and then when he just sits on your hand you can pick up up you always have to be patient when taming your hamster because if you move too fast your hamster can become very scared of you and all of your work will become nothing jerry is literally eating on my hand I can feel him soon your game sir you'll comfortable you can try slowly picking him up that was a great step Jerry and later on when you feel comfortable you can just start raising him higher and higher I hope this helped please comment and subscribe and please please request more videos thank you for watching
