Please explain how to assess fuel gone bad.

how's it going this is a Josh at vintage steel and today we're going to check out if we have bad gas in this um this 71 Triumph Bonneville what we're going to do right here is a pull the drain plug off of the flow bowl and fortunately with these bonding bills are pretty easy to get at take these uh gloves off to put it in the way so you pull this off I don't mind getting a little gas on my hands kind of used to it if you do mind you should have wear rubber gloves so rumor has it this uh the person that owns this bike keeps it stored outside and under a tarp so we're kind of just trying to figure out what is going on and why there's so much moisture in the gas which there is definitely in this you can come in here I don't know if you're going to be able to see this kind of sloshing around right now but uh if you can get a good shot of it there's definitely water in that gas and water and gas don't mix it so it's so easy to tell by angle it towards the light maybe you can pick up some more of it so it's almost 50/50 almost 50% water and 50% gas and unfortunately water is not flammable so the bike won't run right and that's everything inside the flow Bowl in the carburetor and this is the gas that came out of the tank right here I'm going to sit here to see what settles to the bottom pretty American pretty gross we'll see what happens I here in a little bit so that's a very good sign that something is not right when it comes to the this bike running properly so I'm going to put the float Bowl drain plug back in because now pretty much we just got to take the the carbs off and clean them out completely so if you come over here right here is the gas that came out of the tank remind you of a tank that was stored outside under a tarp you wouldn't expect that much in here this is the gasoline and we're going to set it down so that it doesn't slush around too much that's a gasoline that came out of the carburetor that's not good that's a lot of water and gas and like I said before water is not flammable so it will not run properly like that you can get that out of the carburetor just by opening up the folk bulb drain plug so right here I just poured a little bit of good gas out this is just good regular gasoline and that's what it's supposed to look like all right so the bottom line is that your gas needs to be clean and clear if it's cloudy or has water in it you need to address that issue first thanks for watching
