hi this is the rio star ruby red grapefruit this is one of the sweetest fruit that exists in the entire Earth this fruit was developed at the text am experiment station in weslaco Texas but when I'm going to show you today is how to carefully skin this and collect the sweet meat so that you may enjoy it in copious amounts first off you start by cleaning your hands wash your hands dorm or so read sterling next take your breaker and you wash like a breakthrough you are about hello you must have a sharp knife a thin blade works best and what you do is you take the top and the bottom open you cut them off you create a nice level surface justice save the appeals because you will squeeze those in order to enhance the flavor and make more juice for your your fruit and then you go about and trim off all of the skin in a circular fashion I would like to thank my videographer Kyle mcclinton where his excellent excellent cinematography then you turn this fruit / you trim off the excess skin just as so careful not to cut yourself and then you see all these thin membranes you take your knife and you go down one side membrane and cut out a wedge and here you get this beautiful piece of fruit without any skin no more digging into a half of grapefruit keep going until your seeds behind and even in the cold climate of Alaska you can enjoy some wonderful tropical fruit how could you show our viewers with the weather's like outside we're just about done with this trim off any excess membrane that you may have left the last piece like that take out the seed what you do here get all this wonderful juice you squeeze it it's going to keep most of it in the bowl but sometimes it's towards out and avoid the temptation to lick your fingers because other people might not appreciate it if you continue on and chop off the rest of the grapefruit you take your skins and squeeze out a little more than juice look at that this grapefruit doesn't need any sugar at all put all that wonderful juice can you see that and you just keep doing that I even say a little bit of juice that's left over on the cutting board if you want to look in here and see look at that Miami so there you go enjoy farewell from the McClendon kitchen
