hi I'm Wendy with natural restoration I'm going to show you how to get the smell out of furniture whether it's from mothballs or a musty smell cigarettes or smoke when you get furniture some time - just got a smell that you can't get away you take the surfaces that are showing if it's a painted service clean it if it's a wood finish surface same thing clean whatever you would clean you would with that will get the smell out of that surface what it will not do is all of these other places that are would have soaked up the smell wood is very coarse so all of this in here is gonna have a smell with it so is the underside of whatever piece of furniture they're working with as well as the bottom of the drawer I like to use on the wood it is showing I like to use clear spray I've used all of these this is like a cheap spray paint from like a Dollar Tree type store this is actually a modge podge acrylic spray that I've used my favorite is Valspar for the price the fact that it covers well it's got a great spray to it and just overall the best that I've tried so you want to coat every part of wood all in the drawers like I said and then on the inside of your dresser you have all of this wood in here that has absorbed whatever smell it is that you're smelling and don't like so you take your spray paint you should probably do this outside is the best place with the mask following manufacturer's directions whatever they are I like to do my stuff outside because it leaves the smell out there and with the spray can you can get all the way inside of the dresser and coat all this stuff it's going to take once you do that it will take three or four days even a week depending on the weather to get the smell of the paint out of the furniture but it's well worth it because it seals in all of the other things you can also use paint either latex or oil-based just regular house paint to Co n smells if you wanted to go in here with a brush and roller and paint this it will seal it up and it will also work but just paint it seal it in the smell will go away and it won't come back we use just on all of our furniture and it works great so that is my tip of the day
