what's happening everybody today we're going to just do a quick tutorial of how to polish out a headlight using a 'mother's headlight restoration kit but we're going to use it a little bit differently the mother's kit actually calls for you to use it with a power drill but I'm going to show you that you don't always need to use extra power in fact sometimes if it's not that bad if you just got a little bit of haze we can go through the progressions of the kit real quick and it works just as good so let's get to it so here's the kit that we're actually going to use it's mothers headlight renewal kit as you can see it says fast and easy and I definitely have to agree with it I've used several different ones they all pretty much work about the same this one I happen to really like but we'll go through it comes with pretty much everything that you need this is what it includes you get this polisher and then the soft thing that goes on any power drill you get the Polish right there which works really great and then also these pads which I'll show you once we get to it so here's the headlight that we are going to polish up it's on a lexus rx350 that we have and a half and you can see it's got a little bit of oxidation on there but it's really not too too bad so we're gonna try to do it without a power ball just nice and smooth and see what happens so the first thing you know I've use this kit already so you're gonna see they're a little worn down it's not the first time that's a good thing about not using the power tool as well even though I have used the power tool which this is what actually attaches to your power drill is I've you can you reuse those kits so it's not like you get the kid and it works on the head like one time of course I have a bunch of vehicle so I constantly I'm having to go through this because I switch out vehicles fairly quickly so some of y'all may only have you know vehicle here and there which it's still good to have it just in case the stuff comes back you can quickly get to it but you can see it shows the different grits that you're going to use and the key to this is you definitely want to make sure that you wet these really really good you can even use a spray bottle too you know what let the actual headlight as you're doing it another reason I don't like to use the power drill as much either is because you're not really gonna have to worry about the pain as much I do recommend taping this down if you do use the power drill or even if you don't you just don't want to hit your paint because it can scratch the paint but you always want to start off this is the thousand and whatever the kit you have it'll it'll have instructions for you just always make sure you read the instructions but you're going to want to basically start off with the least amount of grit and then progressively work your way up because what happens is you're you're basically essentially scratching the lens and then each time you come over it with a new pad the scratches are going to get finer and finer until eventually we get rid of the scratches all together alright so this because this one's not as bad I'm actually going to not even start with the thousand I don't think I'll need the thousand although you can't but this one doesn't really have that big of scratches is more or less just oxygen oxidation so we're gonna basically just start with the 3000 we're gonna wet it really good and come back and basically polish it out so basically we're just going to use like a regular Waddell water bottle right here and just you just want to so cute and really good like I said you can even sink down the penlight if you want and you just want to use a little circular motion on there you just want to keep it nice and smooth make sure it stays wet that's one thing you don't want to do is do this on the dry surface because it will be a lot harder to get out those scratches interview and you'll start noticing a little hazy residue on there which is exactly what you want when you're doing this yeah so just do it until you think you've covered it all you definitely want to make sure it's even when you're doing it that's another key is make sure you kind of do it all even on there all right that looks good all right so from here what you can do is just come back and wipe it down with any type of microfiber cloth and you'll notice that you should have some stickiness to there which is fine so that's what you want okay so if it looks scratched or dull that's no problem because this is the first steps of what you want so now we're going to go up to the next level here which is going to be the 5000 grit is what you want and once again you want to wet the pad wet the headlight want to wet it real good and we're going to do the same method okay so this is just basically gonna go back now until the original scratches that you just had made and we're gonna go back over that and it's going to finally say in those scratches and we're gonna work on getting the dullness out of the headlights and get this handoff same same method kind of want to use a swirling nothing make sure it stays wet and work them nice and smooth and depending on your headlight this actually is going to that becomes easier the higher the number you get up and go to alright so we are at the polish stage and this is the polish that it comes with I also have another polish made by McGuire's that are really liked as well either one is really really good I'll show you that one real quick too so here's the one by McGuire's that I also recommend either one works very very good but basically either one of these polishes or any really any polish that you see that's meant for this that you prefer these are just two of the brands that I really like using up I'm a big fan of McGwire's they make a scratch X product that I use on all my vehicles that is for the paint that I really love but here's the power part and you could see that what what would happen is if you had the power drill if I was using a power drill this would be connected into your power drill and then this would just attach on like that you put your paws on there and polish it out in this case I'm literally just gonna use a microfiber it'll work the same way has the same effect and we're basically just going to take it on put it on there and you could see how adalat looks but that's good that's the good finish what you want to make sure is you you basically go through and feel it see see if it's smooth which it does feel smooth and we're going to see what happens alright so take just a nice little mount out put you a good bit on there it's up to you how much you want to use and you let the product go to work for you I usually just swirl it on all over the light and you know if you prefer to use the power drill if you don't like little elbow grease do what you prefer you know like I said this this messy just don't have to worry about the drill coming off or you know you losing kana a little bit of control of the drill and hitting your paint that's why if it's not too bad I normally don't hook up the power drill one there a little bit of two coats on there get it all on there and now just go to the other side of rack and we're just gonna polish this right out make sure you also gonna want to definitely get it off of the paint if you got it on the paint right there so take that same and well we are done so as you can see the came in took that oxidation that was forming on this light and really knocked it out so there you have it if you headlights are looking a little yellowish or you know just not as clear as you want pick you up a set thanks for watching the video I hope it works for you like I said it and end up working really really good I think y'all are gonna have some good success with it so make sure to check it out don't forget to subscribe and leave me some comments if you end up trying it out let me know what you think thanks a lot you
