oh hello I'm glad he took me up on my invitation to join me in the studio please take a seat oh hello my name is Clyde from Crime Stoppers thanks for joining me in the studio okay so I want a few emails and some questions about how do I paint ripples in water well you can get some paint if aggression do that but I mean that's not always particle and especially if you it's not easy to paint water reflections on one thing another but I can show you on the pink rippers very very quickly this is a tip but I picked up a long time ago and it still works really well today especially with my students we've talked about reflections and things and cutting walked up again on another video but just imagine if you would know this gray Cutlass is blue and or green or whatever that the color the water's going to be and we need to put some ripples in please let me show you a quick tip and we should all have some of this around the kitchen and that is link them or stretch right it's a really good thing to help us in the studio especially if we just started off so what I suggest to do you but you get your ping phone right and then you lay it down on on up on a table or some mimic nook I've already put some paint on you and just wanting to make sure that this does work and then I put some blue paint or you can put white paint or whatever whatever color you want these ripples to be not too wet not too wet and then on our canvas they get this and we tend to fold it a little bit like that gain the paint to show to the outside obviously not you want to build it up inside and then you'll get that takes a while because it gets a bit sticky it's tender life to live together and then we just put it on and lift it off put it down lift it off put them lift it off down lift it off lift it off you can see what you should be able to you should be an SI fish you should be able to see the ripple effects and that's an easy way or put in ripples onto water without actually going in and do it every single one of them make the dots so you need to have a little bit of time have some practice you know use a little bit of scrap card or guessing get simpler you can use tin foil as well that works really well as well you might have a little bit more control with that but it's just you just put the paint on it on your stretch up and then just touch cameras pull it off touch economist pull it off and you will get all these different types of effects and ripple effects that's a quick easy way doing lots of ripples in a short space of time but if you're a perfectionist like me I'll do every one individually it's up to you how you would do it this is just a way and I like to show you these it will quick little army tips to help you along to build your paintings up that much quicker so what about a rock how do we get that effect on top of the rock like let's just say that rock is being add snowfall on it and then we need to show that snow and a pattern forming on on the rock let me show you what I mean so first of all let's put a rock in place so I just mix a bit of red a bit of blue and a bit of yellow and the touch of black just to give myself a really nice dark brownie color so we're going to put a rock in place it's as simple as that put a rock in place thin my paint down a little bit thinner than I would normally use it but that's because I wanted the speed up the pick the drying time on it as quick as I possibly can well like I said before don't forget the boat the 30% rule either 45% I didn't win I got 30% from 45 same one I just felt a bit of fun I can find a strip liner put in some branches I will just leave that dry for 10 minutes or so so another quick tip we want to do it at the blue box resist so this is a little wax crayon you can use you can get a box of these all different colors and why I suggest you do it is just rub a little bit of wax onto the rock is roughly the same color as what we've already painted now acrylic paint doesn't like waxy surfaces so in theory this just should run off so should we should have a resistance there I'm just going to mix a little bit of white just really one second now I need to mix this a little bit watery so when we put this on that tendon this is snow now you'll see it starting to resist you can do this with any color I'm just using white and black just a good idea what it does then use a bit a bit of thicker paint on top unless the type of prototype you're gonna get because just imagine us being it's been snowing and there's a bit of resistance there against the wax and it's like as if is beaded I don't know if you can catch that on camera but it looks as if he's being beaded out and by we're on the subject of that bull parking fixing color that the I mix earlier with the walk just knock a bit more blue the black the semi-dry brush intensify the car of it and then with your script liner brush you can mix a little bit of one yellow together or something like that I need to put us lying straight across we can bring in a couple of reflection just off the side the brush and that is what I said to you that's how I do my ripples I need a bit of playing pure white so you can use the cling film again with some weight on it or you know that's just basically all we need to do with that just put a touch of white like as it has been slow drifted a catch in on the branches and you're going to put a little so the fish has been is coming out the water over there so it's a very very quick exercise for you to try now if you don't want to use the wax crayon then that's okay but if you want to get used to just making some parts that rock a little bit heavier with the paint and lighter than other areas and then if you study it if you studied really close you see all these rock formations so you go in with a lighter brown or whatever color you have decided to paint this rock just a lighter version of what you mix or mix it a bit of white with it if you wanted to just try and turn it turn it up a bit basically and then keep your negative space in place like I've said to you about trees and things and negative space is very important and then you'll see these patterns and just just do what I just did there with a paintbrush and just go over it so but the wax crayon wax resist is a good thing mainly in watercolors but because assembly need to dilute this paint down quite a way so I would suggest you use in your media mix for that rather than water because of the 45 percent rule you don't know what the 45 several is check out my back links below and maybe we'll talk about snow an another video but as you can see it's quite easy there you put some ripples in I have done a lot of work on that and I've already made a small little rock where some trees coming out of it River looks as if it's sitting on a lake my name is Clive from fiber I hope this has been abuse if you like what you've seen please subscribe if you haven't already done so and
