Please explain how to vacuum seal canning jars

hi my name is Rachel Paxson today I'm going to show you how to vacuum sealed canning jars I'm a freelance writer and mom five children ages 28-6 I've been canning for more than 20 years and i'm the owner of the website created home making calm to vacuum-seal canning jars you will need a foodsaver with an attachment court I have the FoodSaver game-saver tool X plus but there are other models of the FoodSaver they also have the attachment port you're looking for a little hole in the front on the top there where the tube can plug in that's where the attachments plug-in so if it has a port if it says it has a port for attachments then you'll be able to use this for vacuum sealing jars you'll also need to get the vacuum attachment it comes separately from the FoodSaver there's two different kinds you can get one for regular mouth canning jars or wide mouth canning jars that you have to pick which one or get both of them and I just got the one for the regular mouth jars first you want to fill your canning jar with whatever it is you want to seal in the jar if you do a lot of food storage this is great for storing beans and rice and things like that and I have split peas in this jar so fill your jar up with what you ever you want to store and with the you're going to need some canning lids for the jar what's great about this is that you can use recycled lids when you're doing regular canning you cannot recycle it but you can for this so it's ok to save your lids and we're canning jars to do this you also are going to need two lids I'm only one that's going to seal to the jar but for some reason the vacuum sealer works better when there's two lids so you're going to need two lids and also remember that you only want to use this vacuum sealing method when you're canning dry items when you're canning fruit or meat or vegetables or anything like that do you need to use a boiling water canner or a pressure canner so this is just for dry items so place your attachment on top of the jar after you put the lids on top and to actually suck the air out of the jar gonna have to lock the FoodSaver it won't turn on mine is on the side next to push the vacuum and seal button the seal light will come on it'll be green at first and then it'll turn red when it's when it's actually sealing the jar when the red light goes off it's all done you won't be able to take the attachment off well the FoodSaver is locked so after the red light turns off you want to unlock the FoodSaver again and just pull the attachment off and then pull the top lid off also and the bottom line should be a sealed you can tell but sealed are not by if you push your finger down in the center of it and if the leg goes down and up again then it is not sealed you want it to be flat and if it's not sealed you can sure go ahead and just do it again you might need to wipe the lid off or wipe the top of your jar off or something on it they kept it from ceiling so that's all there's to it this is a nifty trick and one of the reasons I bought my food say bro so I could do this it's kind of a neat thing for food storage like to just tell you a little bit real quick about my candy courses
