hey guys big welcome back today I'm going to show you how to make t-shirts at home in case you want to start your own little t-shirt business it's not that difficult and for a minimal investment you can have the equipment to get this going yourself so today I'm going to show you the basics on how to make a shirt like these so I guess just starting with some of the equipment we're going to need you need a vinyl plotter which is basically a almost like a printer for making stickers and heat transfer graphics it is a machine like this which can be bought for anywhere between 400 up to you know several thousand dollars this particular model is valued at about $450 however I did find mine use for three hundred dollars so if you if you shop around sometimes you can find a good deal you may have to replace a blade or something like that which could be about ten dollars and then beyond that we need a shirt press which is right there I bought that brand new for $300 plus taxes or so so you say three hundred forty bucks or whatever and we will show you how to use that as well and then you'll need a plotter software a lot of times they come with it mine came with win PC which I will be showing you in a few seconds okay here we are back at the program win PC and this is basically I've got this plugged in now and it is going to go and tell the cutter what to cut so up here I'm just going to push this button which brings up my cutting window and because I'm making a shirt if I was making a sticker I just pressed cut and but because I'm making a shirt I'm going to have to press mirror we cut backwards when we were doing the heat transfer so I press mirror and it flips the image backwards and by doing that trust me it'll that's how we want it and you'll see that it's two different colors and the reason for that is because if I chose to do these words one color and the other the middle a different color as you see in the picture I could do that up here by selecting the red or the black or I can cut all together which is what I'm going to be doing for this one because I'm just doing a white simple simple logo so once I've got that in and I'm ready all I got to do is click start and once I've click start we can come on over here to the cutter which is going to quick make quick work of this well it'll take a few minutes to cut but it's going to cut the logo out and I'll come right back and we'll check it out okay there we have it and I'm just going to grab a razor blade right here just a craft knife and I'm going to go ahead and pull this out part way and this is where you really got to use your eyes to kind of see I can see you guys won't see it though I can just see in the reflection when my logo has come far enough I want to be careful not to crease that stuff so keep one lock down and and then I'm just going to cut across very carefully obviously not to cut through my image and now I've got it and I'm sure it won't show on the camera but our logo is there and we're going to take it to a board to pick it okay now I just normally use a kitchen cutting board I find it to be the easiest and I'm going to slice off the portion that is still good because I can still use that to make something else so we're going to set that aside and then I use this which is a weeding tool and it's also good for picking your teeth if you got corn stuck in there but mostly it's just for this and what I'll do is I got to come in here like this and I poked the corner and I try to pull it back on itself if I've gone too far it'll go through the material which on this doesn't matter I didn't anyway and then I'm going to start pulling back now depending on your logo you'll be able to pull kind of towards the letters you want to do that to make it so that it pulls out as easy as possible without lifting the letters this is a material that is okay if it peels a letter up this is a glued sheet now if you use some of the stretch material then it's not as forgiving and they can't be glued back down but so I'm just going to sit here like this pulling off all the main parts that I can taking my time you can't do this quickly I've seen some people that do but I think it's they've got their pressure really turned up on their cutters and I don't want to do that it will wear out the blade prematurely and I don't have a blade place very close to me it's about a 40-minute drive so I've got to be careful with my blades I don't have a spare but you can see how we're getting the the letters to come through here I will continue this and then I'll come back and I'll show you about picking out the Centers okay so now I've got most of it done which gave me this sheet here of garbage that's that's not good for anything and now I'm going to pick through some of the more fine stuff that's still left and so just basically you just want to grab onto it and hook it being sure not to hook any parts that you actually need so s's seem to always get caught up on one half of them because they have opposing sides so that's pretty normal now because this is such a big image it's actually not too hard to do this and this process is like you know it's called it picking but it's actually called weeding which I don't really know why but sorry about that I'm recording with my phone and I got a phone call so I'm going to continue just picking out these and just being very careful because yeah if you if you hit the image that you're trying to use then you definitely you could screw it up could be okay but I think I was saying before the phone call that because this is so big it makes it easier with the smaller the the letters or the finer the detail the harder this is I'm sure you could imagine what I mean seeing what we're picking out this is with like half inch font if it was you know really tiny then you've really got to sit and focus on it but we are almost done and I just flick it on the floor or whatever on the table I'm working on right now I'm working on the floor but so there is that and we can move on to the next stage and here we have a brand new shirt and what I'm going to do is I'm just going to lay it out I'm going to make sure I'm actually happy with the sizing of this this is a new logo for us and a lot of times you would actually use a tape measure and measure and use tailors chalk or even you know what sidewalk chalk is fine it doesn't affect the image at all but they do have tailors chalk for marking but luckily for us when you're doing a Center chest item something like this you don't really need to and when I put it on the machine I can very easily tell where Center is and straight so we're going to have go ahead and move over to the Machine and we will start that process right now okay so now here I am I've got my machine all warmed up it's at 145 degrees I'm looking for about a hundred and seventy but it's not a precise thing and I hold my shirt like this I grabbed evenly on each side of the collar and just I've gotten used to where to hold it and I slide it into the machine like this and I actually tuck both the both the sides of the collar and you can just go by feel for where the middle is and I make sure that these both feel the same on both sides and once they do then I know I've got my Center and what I need to do is a little more center there eyeball it and stuff like that this is where marking it would come in handy but like I said I've gotten pretty good at this now so and I push this down for three seconds and you can see that there's a little timer there I went four seconds comes out beautifully flat this is a great iron ladies I know you won't want to lose at home I say ladies that's actually sexist I don't mean that everybody should be ironing I guess Who am I kidding I don't iron unless it's ironing on logos but so for me I'm going to want to go right about there and I'm going to have a look I'm going to say is that straight is it not it's pretty much straight probably on an angle for you guys I suppose because the camera is on an angle but that should do it and now I'm just going to press this down it's got a built-in timer you can see over there it's counting down 15 seconds and so we just got a doo doo doo doo doo will blast through these 15 seconds and we will have a shirt it's like Christmas every time you open it beeps it says hey I'm done then this is a hot or cold peel so I just pull it hot and you just peel it nicely like that and I've been in the habit of one more time and by no means is this required but I've just been doing it is just going like that once I've peeled it off stick that back on and give it another 5 seconds just to make sure the image is really in there not that I'm having any peel off on me anyway but there it is that is a fitness junkies with the white logo this is actually the first one like this so hopefully you guys like it I should auction this one off or something I might get like 8 bucks for it and send it to charity but hopefully you guys have enjoyed that and that's what's involved with making a t-shirt hopefully you guys like it and we'll click the like button and go out and get yourself a shirt machine if this is something that might interest you thanks for watching guys and we'll see you on the next video
