good day everyone I'm Joshua Clinic today I'm going to talk to you about how to secure balances now when you're hanging balances especially in those older houses not everything is quite level so you don't want to run a level on it all the time you want to kind of measure from a solid object so that way it runs with rested lines in the house for this job I'm going to be using a battery-powered drill with the Philips bit a pencil and the hardware for my curtain rod we're also going to be using a tape measure the first thing we want to do is take one of our brackets put it into position so we're going to take our bracket we're going up above these old holes to hide them with our new balance we're going to take our pencil go ahead and mark our new holes now I'm going to take my screw my bracket put the screw inside the bracket to help steady that screw why drill it into place when you're securing your balance to the wall you want to make sure you go into something solid whether it be a door trim or even a stud we're going to take our tape measure and place it on top of the door the reason we're not using a level here is because in these old homes everything is at a level and if you put something up like a balance its level it's just going to look awkward so we're going to go to the top of the door and then run it down to the our first screw and I like to take my pencil and put a mark right there so that way I know exactly where that other screw goes then I'm going to measure from the side of the door and and it looks like we're on the same mark now we're going to go to the other side of our tape measure on top of door put a small mark then run it the opposite way and go ahead and put another mark and where the two lines intersect is where our top screw is going to go now we're going to take our screw put it in to our bracket and go through to our mark and then we'll go ahead and put in our bottom screw now we're going to put the balance onto our curtain rods then we're going to take our curtain rods place it on top of our brackets snap it down into place hanging up balances above your doors and windows can improve the look of the windows and make them pop out from rest of the room and it can also make your room appear bigger thank you all for watching and good luck with this project you
