today is Saturday September 7th and I want to show you how to make these tissue paper pom-poms um I've actually made two of them so far and I've attached into some string and I'm gonna make a third with you and then I'm gonna put them all together to make a strand of them and I've got the star tissue paper the blue and the red you can use whatever colors you want if you want to use all one color you can or if you want to use two colors or three colors however many colors that's just what came in my tissue paper pack that I got okay so the materials you're going to need is some tissue paper scissors some sort of ribbon or string to tie your pom-poms together and a stapler a stapler or you can use tape too if you want okay I've taken this pack of tissue paper that I bought came with six pieces of 20 by 20 inch sheets and I took each sheath and cut it into fours and got this size in here I have five or five eight little squares that I cut I just put the stars on top and then red and blue all right so I'm gonna try and get these lined up all together kinda hard because they're so flimsy okay and if you are using a pattern um tissue paper like I am make sure you put it face up because the back usually isn't as bright and nice looking as the top okay I know it's kind of uneven but we're gonna trim the edges off in a minute so you're gonna take all your layers when they're put together and you're going to start folding them accordion style so you're gonna fold them I guess a little less than an inch or so over and then just back and forth and back and forth I'm gonna start doing it this way see your fold over just a little bit and then go back to opposite way and fold the same thing so I got the same way other way just keep folding all the way down and so all of it is folded alright and it looks like this so you want to pinch it in the middle and depending on what supplies you have you either want to staple it or tape it in the middle and I think I think I've got it about in the middle so I'm just gonna take mine and staple it and then do whichever way you want to do yours try and get it in there as straight as I can okay alright so the next step is going to take your scissors let me just see how that's pretty even okay mmm this doesn't have to be a perfect craft you know I think I'm gonna trim some of this off right here this is bugging me all right so we're gonna take this end and we're going to cut like a rounded edge to make the edge of the petals more round um if you want you could also cut like that and make a pointed edge you don't have to cut the edges but it looks a lot neater if you do okay a little bit hard to cut through all these layers it's kind of even so I'm gonna try and even it out a little bit all right and I'll do the same to the other side Oh cut myself all right I mean just double-check that these are still pretty even mm-hmm one sides just a little bit longer I'll just see if I can trim it down just a tiny bit about messing it up good all right hmm now that you have your edges trims start pulling it apart okay so you're going to start pulling up one sheet at a time be really careful because the tissue paper can rip pretty easily pull it up as much as you can in the middle let's do it each layer since I have have eight pieces of tissue paper you want to pull four up this way and then the other four down this way to make the pom-pom effect right now start on this side and there the other side just do the same over here be careful not okay now we've got that pom-pom done I'm gonna attach it onto the strand take this go inside okay
