hi I'm duranta and today I'm making black walnut snowball cookies favorite for everyone during the holidays and you're gonna start off with one cup of room temperature butter that's two sticks of butter one cup of powdered sugar one teaspoon of vanilla two cups of flour that's all-purpose flour and here I have grind the black walnuts to this very fine texture that I love using in the cookies I've used a food processor to get my walnuts looking that way now I'm using like I said black walnuts that you can use English walnuts you can use pecans whichever or pecans however you say it but that will be up to you so I'm going to go ahead and add the vanilla in to my one cup of butter and I'm gonna add my one cup of powdered sugar and you want an extra powdered sugar for later and I'm gonna use a mixer and get this mixed together this is what you want your butter and vanilla and powdered sugar mixture to look like you know the great thing about this recipe it only calls for five ingredients now let's add the flour and give this a quick stir now I've got the flour worked into our butter and sugar and vanilla mixture and now I'm just adding those wonderful black walnuts and give that a really good stir stir it in really really really well ooh the smell of those black walnuts are just absolutely delicious pretty well got the black walnuts mixed in very well with the other four ingredients so now let's start forming balls to make our cookies all right as you can see it's a very very thick cookie dough and I take about two teaspoons make a ball and put it over here on a cookie sheet that I have lined with parchment paper it's not necessary you line the cookie sheet with parchment paper but I just think it keeps the bottoms of the cookies getting a little too golden brown alright keep doing this until you have your cookie sheets filled I've got one cookie sheet full of these wonderful walnut cookies and now these go to a 350 degree preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes okay I've just taken my first batch of black walnut snowball cookies out of the oven and you want to be very careful taking them off the tray and putting them over here on the cooling rack while your cookies are still warm you just want to sprinkle powdered sugar on the top of each of them that way the powdered sugar will add he's to the warm cookie then I do this at least two times so we can get a lot of powdered sugar on those cookies and if you want you can also just flip them upside down now I've got them all turned over and I'm gonna continue just heavily sprinkling powdered sugar and underneath my cookie so I have wax paper so it'll catch the excess powdered sugar because I'm going to use it for my other cookies are coming out of the oven soon for another dusting of powdered sugar these are going to be so nice and sweet I can't wait to try one ooh let's dig in the powdered sugar just gives it that extra kick of sweetness the buttery shortbread cookie this is with the walnuts you will never find another recipe like it this is Toronto with foods 101 mmm look at the inside thanks for watching until next time good eating
