hey youtube jason here and got something kind of cool today i've been waiting for this and finally i think they're ready these are aunt ruby's german green tomatoes they're green and they're supposed to be green now i've been watching these dudes for for weeks waiting for them to to get right and it's kind of a pain in the butt because they look like your typical green tomato that's starting to ripen up but obviously you can't do what i'm doing if you feel it kind of feels soft like a ripe tomato should i've actually had trouble with my captain lucky's because i can't tell when they're ready and i i don't know why i was doing this with the german greens but not the captain lucky's you know i'd actually walk up and feel it i i kind of figured out the captain lucky's one day but it was it was a little too late they were actually riding on the vine no big deal i got more coming and i have tried one they're delicious but these these two and these are the only two i've gotten so far these are kind of growing awkward shaded most of the day they're only getting about four hours of light a day four hours of direct sunlight a day and anyway i just wanted to go over how to tell when a green tomato is right in my opinion you just feel it you know luckily luckily the plant's not putting out a lot of tomatoes so i've only had i've only had to go up and you know put my hands and feel on two tomatoes you know my neighbors might think i look like a freak walking up and feeling my tomatoes but hey they're mine but anyway that's all i've got is just feeling them um this one i have noticed it's kind of starting to get a little pink in it i don't know if you can see that or not it's got a bad spot too where a bug's gotten in it but no big deal i'll share it with them but yeah i've only got two to work with so i guess one's gonna be for review and one's gonna be to save seeds because if it's good well i'll do the review first if it's good then i'll save the seeds if it's not good i'll just enjoy the tomato chances are i'll save some decisions though but anyway that's it just feel your green tomatoes and if they're soft they're good to go if they're still hard and you know you know what a green tomato feels like it's really hard and you wouldn't want to bite into it that's that's how they feel until they're right and that's that so thanks for watching hope this helps if you're trying to figure out how your how to tell if your green tomatoes ripe um these are aunt ruby's german green i'm sure they're not all the same but you know a ripe tomato is a ripe tomato they're soft from the right you know kind of kind of like you just want to bite into it and i really do so anyway keep an eye out for the aunt ruby's german green review and hope you enjoy let's grow together i'm going in you
