hello my name is aya I'm the director of development and communications here at the Japanese cultural and community center of Northern California today I'm going to show you how to fold the coin of woody or carp streamer in Japanese traditionally hung around in Japan in celebration of children's day on May 5th so let's get started step one so we're first gonna start with the design side on the front and we're gonna make sure the white side shows we're gonna fold the triangle and we're gonna fold another triangle and then we're actually gonna open that back so you have a crease right in the middle step two you're just gonna take the front flap you're gonna match this edge with the bottom edge here like so make sure your corner is are clean here you're gonna do the same thing on the other side so match this edge with this bottom part like this and it should look something like this and next you're gonna grab both sheets of one and two and you're gonna fold them together and match it to the bottom edge right here you want to really make sure that these two corners are sharp and clean and after that you're just gonna open it up because all you want is just this crease in the middle right here step 3 so once you're here you're gonna unfold both sides unfold now at this point you're going to make sure you have one two three and four creases okay what you're going to do is you're going to fold down this side then you're gonna fold down this side so that this part floats up here and you're going to fold it down step 4 you're just gonna do the same thing for the other side so you're gonna fold this side down fold this side down and fold back the flap Step five you're gonna open this up in the center and you'll see a crease down the halfway mark here and you're gonna make the head by pulling it back and having the corner meet that crease when you're done you're gonna fold it back over again step 6 we're gonna make the tail part now what you're gonna do is you're going to take the top inch and a half or so and you're what you're going to do is you're going to fold inward and then upward like so and you're gonna close it together until you have the tail sticking up your final point nobody should look like this with flexible fins and it's also actually able to stand up on its own you
