hey y'all this is Eric with East Texas homestead calm and today I want to talk about an easy way to keep the weeds out of your flowerbed so what you're going to need is some cardboard some wood mulch and probably a little kiddie pool or some way to get the cardboard wet be sure to remove all the tape from the boxes because that's not going to break down don't forget to make it a family activity soak the cardboard make sure it gets real wet for putting it down this is important so that it doesn't shed water with the cardboard down and thick layers the thicker you go the more weed prevention you get make sure it's nice and moist if you're wondering to where to get your cardboard try your local furniture store they typically have a lot that they're getting rid of good job getting it all wet buddy you can get real creative with this for this application I'm just gonna put the wood mulch right on top of the boxes but you can put compost or other organic materials down to increase fertility you'll want to cover the cardboard with the mulch as quick as you can so that doesn't dry out all right folks there you go two quick easy and cheap way to prevent weeds that's good for the earth it's good for your kids it's good for your pets good all the way around if you liked this video share with a friend and head on over to East Texas homestead com
